It's NOT Martin !

Re: It's Martin !

Jokanovic seems a bit full of himself there.

He’s just been sacked by Fulham. Taking a new job so soon will impact his payout from Fulham. Would’ve be crazy if he’d taken this job for a massive financial hit, so it’s only natural he had high demands.

I suppose of all the "fan service" appointments we could have gone for, O'Neill is the most capable manager.

At least it's not Nigel Clough...

Every time we need a new manager fans shout for Martin O'Neill and now I'm seeing a lot of moaning. I'm delighted about it.

John Robertson officially retired at Martin's no.2? triumvirate O'Neil, Keane & Robertson.

Love a bit of football bromance and nostalgia.

Stylistically it's a perfect switch too. Whereas Warbs to AK was a massive leap, MON's is a definite switch, but a much gentler one.

I hope Keane isn't coming. We could do with some stability rather volatility. It would be good to think that this might be a longer term appointment even if it doesn't turn out that way.

Will he back out at the last minute like he did last time?

Also Colin has the knack of getting clubs promoted despite nobody wanting him at our club and him being a general arse.
Sometimes it just works.

This is why I don't get the argument that "the championship has changed" If Colin wanker can do it at this level, O'Neil can still do it.

Im going on record as my first post on the matter to say i watched his Villa sides live quite a few times and it was a bit boring.

Exactly. Out of all the legends MON is the one who could legitimately get the job on merit alone.

Re: It's Martin !

He's improved every club he's ever managed bar one, he took Ireland to the knockout stages of the last Euros, he's massively well respected in football and he's a Forest legend.

I'm delighted with the appointment and i think he'll do well.

Masterminding wins over Germany in the Euro 16 qualies & then Italy at the Finals prove they have what it takes to do well. We'll just put the last two years down to a blip.

MoN will do a good job, but I doubt any better than AK would have given time.

I don't see him as someone who will get us up to the Prem, but I hope I am wrong.

Will he do better than Billy did though? :)

Football moves in waves and circles. A team will have some success playing in a style, and others will follow suit.

Ultimately having a genuine style and making sure you do it well is enough to have a reasonable amount of success. Warnock's style is seen as 'old school'. But his teams are very clearly set up to play that way, his players fit that system well and it's a smooth operation (well it's rough on the eyes). That's how success is achieved (relatively).

It's why the likes of Pulis, Alladyce... etc have reasonable success and often find themselves in work.

Re: It's Martin !

What if we don't get in the top 6 by the end of the season as he's only got to improve us by 1 place. Will they boot him out in May?

But aren't we 9th just now?

I don't know how to feel about O'Neil managing the club, if he does take the job. It's been a while since he's managed in the leagues and club management is different to national team management.

Re: It's Martin !

Very happy with this, he knows the club, he knows us, he'll take no shit from board or players and he's a pretty decent manager. For the last 10 years he jas said that he would love to manage Forest before he's done so I don't doubt his passion for the job either.
Oh and we can sing he's one of our own to get Bazza's back up too as a bit of a bonus.

I'll say this, I think he's the only bloke who's as footballing smart as Davies.

Key thing will be his backroom staff & support. Davies has his team aboslutely nailed to a tee. MON's not as hands on so needs that to be right. No coincidence he floudered a but at Sunderland without Robbo

Hopefully he's past that stage & the club provide him with the traning staff he needs (which so far it has every other manager)
