The Sun talking rubbish as always. Not a chance we sign this chap now we've got MGW

To be fair, it does make me think it won’t happen if it’s in the Sun. Was an “article” last week claiming Cooper and EM were falling out and at odds with each other over transfers and it was chaos…

The Midlands club are also said to have agreed a deal with Wolves to sign Morgan Gibbs-White for £44.5m.

The 22-year-old has started both Premier League games for Wolves this season and will undergo a medical at the City ground.

According to reports, Forest had a £35m bid rejected earlier this month before submitting a new offer worth £44.5m including add-ons.

If the transfers for Gibbs-White and Aouar are finalised, their total spending will go above an eye-watering £150m.

What’s funny is that journos always talk about how much we are spending “eye watering £150m” and neglect to mention that despite that we still have the 3rd cheapest squad in the league.

We’re yet to catch up to the incumbents spending, but rivals fans are acting like we are buying the league. Also guarantee none of them would care if we did this over 2/3 windows, but because we aren’t waiting for shit to hit the fan first, we’re insane.

I'm so over this guy. Seems like he maybe doesn't want to come here. In which case I'd rather we spent the money on Garner, seeing as he really seems like he does...
Would have liked him or Malinovskyi prior to MGW's arrival, but signing either of those two makes little sense now that we have MGW.

We know Garner fits in here, and has a lot of potential so would be a sensible investment (even with the recent midfield additions). Given the choice between Aouar and Garner now, picking Garner would be a no brainer for me.

So within less then a week we've gone from:
1) Agreed a deal with Lyon, but the player is stalling.
2) Agreed a deal with the player, but not the club!
3) Forest walked away due to attitude of the attitude of Lyon's DOF.
4) Lyon walked away because they got Mark Arthur'd.

Stinks of bullshit to me. Again, none of the usual reliable journalists ever said anything was even remotely close; there is a good reason for that.

I listened to the latest Dane interview and he talked about his biggest flaw being he has a temper. It wouldn't surprise me if in his anger at Lyon changing the deal at the last minute like what was reported he was so angry he offered them the shitest deal he could think of to piss em off.

Yet it's more likely we never were seriously interested anyway he was just one on forests list if MGW couldn't come here.

I reckon so as well. MGW has always been the club's first choice, we probably just sounded out this bloke's availability in case we didn't get MGW. I doubt Forest would have quibbled over a few million or walked away because their DOF is an arsehole if he was our primary target.

Not sure where the truth sits but it could be plausible that a fee was agreed in principle only for Lyon to renege and change the terms. I would walk on that basis as a matter of principle. Especially, knowing other deals were in progress.

Cultural factors play a role here as business etiquette varies where any deviation from an agreement in principle is viewed as an insult. Maybe our Greek friends can shed light on this?

Occam's Razor - basically says that if you cut through the bullshit and discount the extreme (or options with less evidential support) the simplest explanation or solution to a problem is usually the right one.

It's a philosophical tool for ‘shaving off’ unlikely explanations. Should be applied more regularly to conspiracy theories. For instance Trump loses the election is either a) Biden got the votes to win the electoral college.... or B) A small group on shady individuals manages to co-opt a large group of people across many states to do highly illegal things without any one them confessing, breaking cover or blowing the whistle plus managing to and/or corrupt data and re-programme voting machines whilst not leaving a single trace in emails, taped conversations, meetings or IMs, text messages etc which MUST mean they have also managed to completely overwhelm and make complicit the entire law enforcement and investigation capacity of the FBI, NSA, local and state investigators not to mention apparently suborning life long Republicans to also go along with it (and they were the only ones to whistleblow by recording a conversation... only it was against the President who was the one actually asking for illegal things to be done) unless they were in fact Democratic sleeper agents meaning this was a decades long conspiracy despite the fact it was used apparently against a man who'd only been in office for 4 years!!!!....

I think people are reading too much in Dane saying that.

He is not a hothead.

Dane: „So, I want to buy this player for Forest“

Opposing Team: „He is not for sale, at any price!“

Dane: „Hmmm. That‘s a nice stadium you have here. It would be a shame if something happened to it? Like it caught fire… or something?“

Not in the starting 11 or on the bench for Lyon tonight.

Not sure if he's injured or that's a sign he's on his way out?
