I’ve never watched Aouar live but from what I have read on him he has played various positions across his different managers at Lyon.

His best year was as a deep lying playmaker CM, dropping to get the ball from defenders and move it along.

He’s also played an 8 to some effect.

And recently he’s been moved to left wing and attacking midfield to attempt to slot into a new managers’ system. This has been least effective.

So he dosnt only play the same role a MGW and Lingard, but that’s the only one that made sense for them within our system.

It’s possible that we planned changing our system somewhat to have a 3 man midfield, in which case we might still be interested

B) We are helping the agent out to drum up interest as we know we are getting MGW

Probably a mix of both. I think our interest was genuine, but not as far along as some people in the French media made out. MGW was obviously our first target and now that looks to be happening, it's unlikely we'll be pursuing Aouar anymore.

Betis can't afford him, thanks to Moreno screwing them and Forest over with his Verhoek tribute act.
