Sorry, I reverted back to being 12 there. I'll sit in the corner for five minutes.

Facing the front with arms folded, please. We know what's on your mind now.

Back again quickly. Our club just posted this on their facebook

"After seeing and reading the many messages of good will and best wishes following his move to Nottingham Forest, Matty Fryatt has asked us to pass on the following message to you:

'I was quite sad reading through them all if I'm honest. The most surprising thing was the number of them, I didn't think there'd be so many. I was unbelievably touched as I read through each message.

'I'll look back on my time with nothing but fond memories of the fans, I really enjoyed every minute playing in front of them.

Thank you'"

He is very well thought of across our fan base and that is a testament to his ability and his character also. Those doubting really should wait til he's played a few games for you before getting on his back. Don't want too much egg on your faces eh?

It's only a few folk to be fair. Them same people won't be happy until a Collymore is here and think a top 6 manager isn't good enough for the club. Most fans including myself are over the moon with signing him.

Collymore took 4 starts to notch his first goal. A fair few Forest fans wouldn't be that patient.

How did he play today? Does it look worth keeping him in a front two or should we sacrifice him for Vaughan or Lansbury when they're back?

Was class, Assomba will get the headlines but Fryatt grafted hard and linked well.

Won't argue the point but will say the headlines should be:-

When the back four and midfield at Forest are ALL back - the Mighty Reds will be awesome.

Fryatt is the most intelligent, unselfish forward we've had at this club for years. His movement and sense of direction yesterday was absolutely top notch. Reads the game very well and knows how to create space for team mates to exploit in the final third.

Am I racist? I read that as all 'Black'. I was puzzled for a minute as I couldn't see the point.

What a clot I am!!

 He's a good player. Very good at this level and an excellent freebie. Hope those who kept putting countless arguements forward based solely on his goal ratio note that.

100% agree. Not many teams play with two goal poaching strikers these days. He's got the creativity, knows how to stretch defences and will score plenty.

 Nah, he'll get plenty more than Cox. Way more creative too.

Aye, I I'd be happy to see Fryatt & Dave play most the season together :)

We've seen glimpses of a good partnership between him and Britt already, but when it really clicks (given time)I believe we're going to see something very special.

Folk that measure Matty on paper using goals to games ratios as their only KPI will never be satisfied. When was the last time a side had two 20+ goal strikers? I can't think of one and that's because you need a blend of someone who creates space, holds up play and drags defenders out of position (Fryatt) whilst the other plays on the last defender, makes runs in behind and scores 80% of the time when shooting on target (Britt)

I'd expect so, he is an upgrade as far as I'm concerned but I did used to try to defend Cox and what he used to bring. I hope I don't have to listen to

Gerrin the box Fatty yura strikah

Then relying on Forest Boffin to show how he opens up space for Brit and the midfield to exploit.

You just know even if he bags 15 this season some clownshoes will still claim someone alongside Brit who could also score 20 plus would've got us up.

Much better than Cox.

I don't even dislike Simon Cox. I think there is untapped potential in there with him, but it didn't appear likely to ever happen here.

Fryatt is a hard worker, intelligent, but is also very capable of scoring. I think he's more likely to score from 8yards out than anywhere else, but I think over the course of a season, he'll score enough to deserve his place. If Assombalonga gets the 20+ he seems very capable of, 10 or more from Fryatt is just fine, considering we have goals from all over midfield too.

I like Fryatt, he's a good all round forward, intelligent and hardworking as bgd says. He's similar to Cox in some ways but he is excellent at finding space between the lines and he offers a bigger goal threat.

I’ve been away for a bit but has there been a different thread picking up on Fryatt sueing Forest for making him play when injured. He played17 games in 3 seasons and then retired in 2018 ffs
