Well, since you ask...

When he went back to Benfica, he played for the first team for another season, before being relegated to the reserves after publicly insulting his chairman. He was then sacked over the matter, but took the man to court and claimed €2million damages. When he won his case, he was also reinstated to the reserve side.

When the reserves went under in 2004, he moved to Portuguese 3rd Division Serie C side Sociedade União Primeiro de Dezembro and later he moved to Club Oriental, who are a Paraguayan 3rd division side.

He later played for Al-Nasr in Saudi Arabia before retiring in 2007.

Wow! Hugo had a rough ride after us then. Was one of my fav players for a while
