Who is on the independent commission?

Do the same ppl hear every case and the appeals?

Who pays them?

A panel is drawn from 15 KCs . A different combo each time.
Same folk that are dealing with all breaches and punishments , so for example the betting scandals.
Then there is a separate group of 5 KCs who can be called on to form the appeal panel.
Given the law practices publically crowing when one of their team is appointed, I presume they are well remunerated.

Can someone please explain to thicko me, what this double jeopardy is?
You shouldn't get punished twice for the same crime.

Complicated because losses are accumlated over three years.

But you could and we would argue, the average is over three years for a reason. You can't wipe the slate clean after you had a bad year , impacting a three year loss

Thanks for that. But surely it showed that Everton didn’t take the necessary steps to avoid a breach a second time, with an even greater loss, so should be punished accordingly.

The double jeopardy thing is bullshit. Everton avoided relegation last season by handing in books late and that in turn gives them less punishment this season?
Um...yeah, basically,
That and some fraud in respect of covid losses but that's all ok and we don't talk about that.

Sorry chaps, but watching people try to work this out for months assuming it's all fair has just made me chuckle.

As I and many others have said from day 1, this is all decided by greased palms and self-interests of the governing bodies. Those of you trying to work out how the rules have been implemented are wasting your time. It's all down to "interpretation", and that interpretation will very much be bought and muscled into place by various parties.

I'm not shocked they've only got 2 points, if anything I'm surprised they got that much.

Nothing changes, we need to get more points than Luton.

Also, this whole mess was almost worth it to hear @Rockabilly's Peculator song

So just checking: Everton got a point back for cooperation, but there has to be yet another enquiry to assess whether or not the losses they claimed to be correct actually are correct? Right?
kind of.

everton admitted the charge based on the premier leagues figures. they also stated they didn't agree with those figures.

The issue surrounds loans taken out. Everton argued they were loans to fund the stadium. The premier league said because they weren't stated as such in the accounts they weren't. Everton then repurposed the accounts to show the loans as being for the stadium which is all perfectly legal.

I have no idea why that wasn't sorted out on this commission. They said they couldn't do it in time. So this drags on into next season. Our appeal hearing date is 1 week after the season ends as well so thats a shambles.

In short we are waiting on a load of lawyers arguing what can and cant be done on accounts to decide where everyone finishes in the table. its the greatest league in the world.

Honestly what a joke. I hope you appeal and it all drags on and makes the end of season a joke.

I agree with that position and would expect Forest to argue this.
Otherwise, why sell Mangala?

I mean I did work it out.....

Well the result anyway my working was wrong 🤣.

I figured the commission would take into account the fact that Everton probably should have got 4 not 6 in their first breach and lower their next one by 2 to balance it out.

Instead they said f*** rolling 3 year windows. Go ahead breach after 1 breach only your last year counts.

It makes me wonder if there should potentially be some joined up approach between Forest and Everton in an attempt to get the entire points deduction sanctions thrown out. I'm not sure how that looks in terms of how it's carried out but it appears to be in both clubs best interests.
