I was at Alderman Derbyshire in darkest Bulwell.... barely 20% pf the kids did any French and even fewer did German.... the idea of doing Latin is vaguely comical
Although it was generally enjoyable at Mellish - it was quite strange - the pupils came from far and wide. I travelled from Arnold along with several others - there was not one person out of 90 boys in our year that lived in Bulwell.
That changed the year below me when it went comprehensive and everyone lived in Bulwell and of course it then became mixed sex.

There was a lot of animosity with the locals - which changed throughout my time there as each old year of boys from the county was replaced with local boys and girls.

Passed it last year for the first time in years - it has been knocked down and is fenced off wasteland- a real pity

I am 100% behind a rule that says the run up must be one continuous motion without stuttering, pausing, jumping or any other change of pace.
Me too. I also think that it should be mandatory that the ball must go over the bar, or between the post and the nearest corner flag when kicks are taken against Forest. If the ball goes into the Forest goal then the penalty should be retaken until it doesn't. :)

I understand more now why Forest feel hard done by - we have been treated unfairly I understand the expert is a Forest fan but he makes some excellent points about how badly this has been managed by the Premier League.
Just listened to it.
Gives a good insight and I can fully understand why we are aggrieved.
I think the important part is right at the beginning where it talks about the timelines and we provided all of relative information reference covid and bonus costs in December 2022 - prior to the January transfer window. It is totally unacceptable that the epl didn’t inform us of their position at this time when we were in a position to do something about it.
We resubmitted the same information in March and again the epl gave us no feedback.
We eventually received their feedback in June - 4 weeks before the end of the accounting period - with no time to react in way that protected our assets and sustained our profitability.
The epl are guilty of gross misconduct and we should take them to the cleaners.

Hopefully this will also silence EM’s critics who are continuously sniping at him and in this case blaming him for something that clearly lies at the feet of the epl

I used to knock about in Greece with a rugby playing thug from Wigan, who used to teach Latin and ancient Greek. To say he was one of life's characters was an understatement.

We'd have still been in breach even if the COVID losses and promotion bonuses were taken into account, we'd have just got a 3 point deduction instead of a 4.

The rules clearly need to change as they entrench competitive disparity but that doesn't absolve us of spending a f*** tonne of money much of which was on shit. The worst thing that could happen in the back of this is that our appeal is heard and it makes the top brass feel vindicated that the throw darts transfer approach was sensible, even desirable, because it'll hold us back off we continue to waste money like we did.

Not a zero sum game, both the PL and Forest look ridiculous from this.

Just seen Reid has been fined 5K and two match ban for his language to Tierney and Forest fined too. But what punishment did Tierney get? As Reid would say F*** all.
Yes Forest fined £75,000

The thing that niggles me about the promotion bonuses is should someone at Forest have known. Both Fulham and Bournemouth would have paid promotion bonuses, so did they know how to treat them for PSR or were they that far under the limit that it didn't make a difference to them.

Something I've been thinking about today which doesn't quite add up for me is how the hell did we make a £52m loss in 2022/23, even with all the spending?

It's literally in the PL report that our net transfer spend for 2022/23 was £142.8m, and my understanding is that will be spread ('amortised') over the length of the contracts, so roughly £35-40m a year over four years. Ish. Stick a wage bill of £80m on top of that, and that brings us to about £120m.

The lowest premier league income in 2021/22 was made by Burnley, at around £120m. Realise there are numerous other operating costs besides wages and transfers to consider, but £52m worth? What gives?

Sure but that £30m hole in the finances that the PL seemingly threw at us on a whim will still be there in the accounts next season.

Are you deliberately missing the point?
The epl are totally incompetent and are trying to deflect this incompetence by with a web of deception and lies
Why should we be the fall guys?

Schools and Latin - my parents were teachers and put me in for the High School entrance exam. Being a clever little sod, I got in.

That's where it all went wrong. I was just old enough to go a year early. My best mate who was good at football was a month younger, went to West Bridgford Grammar with the rest. I had to travel into Nottingham every day to attend this vast school where I knew no-one. Traumatised for life!

And the worst was the eleven plus. My erstwhile classmates at Radcliffe-on-Trent Junior did loads of practice papers. I was yanked out of a French lesson to sit an exam with no preparation. I passed - but apparently not with 'High School marks'. This meant despite getting a scholarship my parents had to pay half fees for my first year. I could tell they weren't best pleased. Almost like Forest and the EPL, this saga!

Anyway, the school motto is Lauda finem, 'Praise the end'. Everyone said it meant 'Praise the end of term' (schoolboy humour).

And Latin had the last laugh, when I suddenly decided I wanted to do Art O and A levels and go to art college (I'd met this girl on an archaeological dig who'd turned my head...)

Parents invited to a meeting at school with my form master and the art teacher, I was already down to do Latin A level and was persuaded to stick with it. Latin has done me no harm, but art might have been more interesting (I've dabbled in watercolours for 50 years now).

Harry Arter played for both of those clubs.

He probably got a £20m promotion bonus from each of them too.

Fair, although COVID losses will be gone and obviously we get an increase in allowable losses so together that improves our position by £32m.

Do you seriously think it would have made any difference?

I mean, didn't we just try to sign Akpom for 16m, despite our situation?

I'd like to see a breakdown of these £12.1m Covid costs for 21/22. It's over 40% of our turnover, which seems a lot considering stadiums were fully open.
