Hard to see how we won't appeal, reading the club statement.

But, it's noteworthy that they haven't said they will definitely appeal.

I was hoping that would be the case. Hide it from players and fans and pursue it behind closed doors. If it comes off it’s a bonus. We don’t need the uncertainty.

The league is corrupt as f*** and that statement highlights it. They don’t want clubs coming up and challenging the bigger clubs so they keep us down with a combination of shocking officiating, and made up rules about spending. Should we have broken the rules? no, but let’s be honest, this isn’t about 4 points, it’s about the system in general which is broken. Take your 4 fooking points but give us the 20+ you have stolen via VAR

Forest vs ‘the man’

Only ends one way I’m afraid. If this season is anything to go by that’s public ridicule, mental distraction and ultimate failure.

Happy with the statement but awaiting damage to my back door.

Good response from the club. I sincerely hope we don't take this on all fours and fight back, on the pitch and in the corridors of power. The rules, as they stand, are outrageous, and clearly intended to maintain a closed shop in the league.

To be honest its a laughable argument. Why are we in a position that we have to sell a player to pass? That is the opposite of sustainability. Every club sells players to get by. However they dont rely on selling a player after they have splurged all their dough. Brighton buy within limits than sell big than go again. Its the complete different way round to us. Brighton do it sustainably.
The problem is when you come up with no real assets (BJ aside - at maybe £15m then) and you can't put a team out - where do you go with it. We had no option but to do it the way round we did. Admittedly we made some strange signings - but the principle was the only way we could go.

Can't Play Left-Back
I think we're very lucky. I say this with appreciation that these rules are f***ing stupid, and we were playing against a stacked deck, but we cheated. I believe we gained an advantage last season by overspending. I know we can all point to the signings that were shit - but every Dennis there was a Taiwo, for every Lingard an Aurier. We can't just isolate the shit players and not act like we didn't also make some good signings, and that other teams don't make bad signings. We went scattergun, and risked staying in the Prem by gambling everything. Perhaps the club felt there was no other choice considering how hamstrung we were. BUT we stayed up...funnily enough by 4 points. I'm a bit shocked how far over we were! I'm not sure this was oversight, incompetence etc. I think this was a very deliberate strategy. It worked. It might not have, but it did. And we've got away with it and that is a very minor points deduction considering, and we may still survive and keep picking up that Premier League money. It's a slap on the wrist, all things considered. Take it; move on. The players have a job to do, so just let them and Nuno get on with it now. Let's not turn into the Shaggers whining about hard done to we've been.

I think it's also okay to be simultaneously annoyed and grateful to EM and those running the club. Let's not pretend there was bidding war to take the club off Fawaz's hands when we were an unlikely Jordan Smith worldie save away from being in League One (again). It's okay to appreciate the money he's pumped into the club and that he clearly is passionate, while also acknowledging that the recruitment has been all over the place for the last 6-7 years and the off-field running of the club is at times baffling. I think we're lucky and we have to hope that the club learns from this. If we survive this season (I think we will) but end up in the same situation this time next year (or subsequent seasons) then I think as fans we really should be trying to oust him as clearly he'll never learn. However, I am willing to give him one more chance to sort this shambles out.

Safe to say Everton's 2nd charge will get 2 points off for good behaviour too, unless they cry like they did on the 1st case.

So comes down to how much they were over. Best case for them is the 4 minimum then down to 2.
