PS - re Brighton.

They might well beat Huddersfield in their next game, but after that they have:

Tues 5th Mar - Bristol City (a) - Lose
Sat 9th Mar - Bolton (a) - Lose
Tues 12th Mar - Barnsley (a) - Lose or Draw
Sun 17th Mar - Palace (h) - Lose or Draw
Sat 30th Mar - Forest (a) - Definitely Lose

5 games coming fast and furious with 4 of them away - imagine the disruption and pain in the bum all of that travelling will cause them, not to mention how tired they'll be.

All the way over to Bristol, pig of a journey, then all the way up to Bolton, then over to Barnsley, all the way home for Sunday, then all the way back up to Forest.

In the same period of time we're at home, at home again, over at Hull, then back at home against Brighton - 1 less game to play and a lot less traveling and upheaval.

6 games from now we'll be above them.

I can't see anyone stopping Watford from claiming the second promotion slot.
Unless Cardiff have a bad run and Watford go up as Champions.
I desperately want to believe we can steamroller everyone in our remaining games, but despite the renaissance under Billy so far I can see for the March's games:
Draw at SWFC;
Draw home to Ipswich;
Draw, home to Wolves;
Lose away to Hull;
Win, Home to Brighton
6 points from 15... not enough to get us into a play-off slot...

If we only win one of our next five games I'll eat my own hair.

Totally agree. How the Captain can only envisage 3 draws from SWFC (A), Ipswich (H) and Wolves (H) is beyond me. The absolute minimum we'll pick up from these three games is 4 points.

Not sure I see any logic in your reply.
The outcomes game 1 doesn't prevent game 2 having the same outcome.
Nor does it mean Game 3 cannot end in the same result.
My logic for each is:
1 SWFC - starting to look a bit more accomplished at this level of late and will be looking to consolidate. They are keener on not losing than actually winning. Also we are minus one of our most consistent players for this game (Halford - and also for the next game v Ipswich. There is a lot of debate about who will step into Halford's boots, and the most probable is Collins. Collins & Ward have not, in the games I have seen them play alongside each other, been a marriage made in heaven! I think as a result we will be more cautious in our approach.
2 Home to Ipswich - Mick has been concentrating on sorting his defence out; they did for us at their ground and I think they will be targetting the draw, or hoping to snathc a break-away victory;
3 Wolves - they are becoming desperate and they will either fight like hell to keep away from the relegation zone. We will be fighting for our play-off slot, but at the end of the day it is easier to park the bus and get a 0 - 0, than try and penetrate a mass defence...
Game 4 - away to Hull... Hull does not have the feel of a "lucky" team for us. I see them extending their run of beating us.
Game 5 - Home to Brighton... I dislike their manager and their style, but think that with both us and them hoping for a play-off slot there could be a decent past-flowing open sort of a game.
I would back us to beat them in such a contest.
But as I said... time will tell - these are just my considered opinions.

You've not been listening to your psychic again have you.

Nope - this is cold hard logic, properly reasoned and about as likely to be accurate as every forecast anyone has made about the next 5 games... If this approach worked I'd have won the Pools many times over, rather than the nil I have chalked up :LOL:

How does: "Hull does not have the feel of a "lucky" team for us" fit into that LoL.

I think we're on a roll and the players now believe in the ability that they have before only been able to sense has been within the squad.

The number of chances we had on Saturday we should have won it 5-0. If Billy has Raddy practice shooting for a few days he'll be banging them in by the boatload. His movement has been great, he's consistantly getting into the box and into dangerous positions.

I think the way we attack fast and in numbers is going to be too much for most teams in this league to cope with.

billy always gets us on unbeaten runs i think we will go 7 unbeaten now have a wobble but then finish strongly and end up 6th

Being ever the optimistic, and probably a little biased I got this-

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361801465.374621.jpg

I had us drawing away at Hull, away at Millwall and Leicester at home, and losing away at Cardiff, winning the rest.

Much to my surprise (I am usually a cautious bunny) I got us finishing fifth, two points ahead of Leicester and fully five above Brighton. I think we will only lose once for the rest of the season - at Hull not Cardiff - and I allowed for the odd maverick result too.

Had Huddersfield, Bristol City and Peterborough to go down and interestingly I had Watford to pip Cardiff to the title. That is because they are a better team and also because we will win 2-1 at Cardiff. Obviously!

I did a fairly realistic one that had us finishing 5th on 77 points, with Leicester in 6th and Brighton in 7th, both on 75. I'm surprised lots of people have Wolves going down. I was pretty harsh on them and still had them 4 points clear

Ive done this and got us missing out on goal difference!!!!!

1 Cardiff 102
2 Hull City 96
-------------------
3 Watford 92
4 Palace 85
5 Brighton 80
6 Leicester 76
------------------
7 Forest 76

:( and I was a bit over generous for us only losing twice to Cardiff and Hull
Can't imagine the points being that high, TBH. If we get 76 points it will be enough, expect some odd results.

Had a play:

1 Cardiff 101
2 Watford 87
----------------
3 Hull 83
4 Leicester 81
5 Forest 79
6 Palace 77
----------------
7 Brighton 77

I have us sealing it away at Milwall - wishful thinking..!

I also had Ipswich, Wolves and Peterborough to go down - I don't see that happening so was obviously harsh..

Anything could happen at this point!

First Team Squad
Had a go on this and came up with:

1 Cardiff 46 +29 96
2 Watford 46 +42 94
----------------------------
3 Hull City 46 +17 88
4 Palace 46 +33 86
5 Leicester 46 +35 79
6 Forest 46 +16 77
----------------------------
7 Brighton 46 +20 75
8 Leeds 46 +2 72

Bottom:

20 Charlton 46 -10 51
21 Birmingham 46 -17 51
----------------------------
22 Millwall 46 -16 50
23 Barnsley 46 -18 50
24 Peterborough 46 -31 36

Forest to make into the play-offs by two points. We beat Brighton 3-2 on March 30th to take sixth place off them. Lose at Hull, draw at Cardiff but beat Leicester 3-2 on the final day to hold onto sixth place.

Peterborough bottom with Barnsley and Millwall to go down (not sure if I was a bit too harsh on them though!) Birmingham to stay up by a point.
