Hope Klopp goes there
He won’t, yet.

It is an open secret he wants the job of Bundestrainer on his CV, but apparently only when he’s done at club level.

I’ve heard also this afternoon, the name of Jupp Heynckes linked as an interim solution. That would be interesting!

Isn't Hans van Dunkelrot available?

Herr von Dunkelroter is, unfortunately, not really interested in the opportunity, as his involvement is usually constrained to club level.

I shall be having a Bier with my dear friend on Friday, I‘m sure the demise of Herr Flick will be a topic of conversation.

I've been wanting to go to SW Germany for a while, there's an abbey church in a place called Weingarten right near the Swiss border, where the person who built the church organ was ordered not to obscure any natural light from the windows at the west end of the church. This wasn't the easiest thing to accomplish especially in the 1750s when it was made, and there was no electricity at all to assist with the wind supply and key action.

The result is something spectacular

I have plenty of recordings of the instrument and the vox humana stop mentioned is probably the most beautiful of its kind in the world, though the myth is clearly that.

It's the sound which enters about 40 seconds in on this piece

The rattling noise is because the mechanical action (with sliding rods of basically dowel) have to act over 30-40 metres when a key is pressed.

Would that be a tracker action?

Indeed it is, there wasn't really anything else until Cavaille-Coll popularised the Barker lever (which is basically a form of servo assistance, invented by an Englishman) which made larger instruments with detached consoles (like that one!) much more easy to play and much more reliable. A lot of modern instruments use either pneumatic or electric actions now, or a combination of both.

I appreciate this is getting into extreme nerdiness territory, but it's a miracle that instrument actually worked with the original action, as the constraints imposed meant that the actual pipework had to be spread out across a larger, more disconnected area, and there hadn't ever really been the concept of free-standing detached consoles before.

It is looking very likely that Julian Nagelsmann will be the next Bundestrainer, and will lead Germany into the Euro 2024 championship.

Five games in your neck of the woods @Strummer from only €30, will you get a run at them with your Stuttgart membership? Look spread out, chance of a decent clash perhaps.

It hasn’t been announced yet formally, the ticket portal does not go live until October 3rd, so you have to register there and when it opens, you can apply for tickets directly - and they will then be drawn by ballot once the registration-phase finishes (and that will be some time ahead).

We only know the Nationalelf will play at least one game in Stuttgart (June 19th) which will inevitably be over-subscribed, but I’m going to chance my arm anyway and see if I’m able to score some tickets that way.

It may also be, that as they are the „host“ club, the VfB might have some offers for members, but as there are now 90.000 members, that might also be a stretch!

There’s a few decent size grounds, with the public transport system being as efficient as we’re led to believe it is would you not consider a little out of town trip ?

Get ready if England get a game in your current home city I’m betting you’ll be inundated with emails regarding accommodation, travel and entertainment 🤣.

Yeah, I could get to Frankfurt or München easily, that’s not a problem.

I am going to just chuck my hat in the ballot and see if I get anything; if not, there’s a resale period and a ticket exchange that will start in early 2024 and I’ll see what I can get there.

With Stuttgart as a host city, there will be a lot more going off (including the Fan-Zone again) so there will be lots to do during games if you can’t get a ticket.

The fixtures that will be hosted in Stuttgart are these:

Sunday, 16th June 2024: Group C game

Wednesday, 19th June 2024: Group A game (Germany’s designated game in Stuttgart)

Sunday, 23th June 2024: Group A game

Wednesday, 26th June 2024: Group E game

Friday, 5th July 2024: Quarter-finals (of course, no idea who!)

I wouldn’t mind any of the Group games to be honest, I’ll go and watch anyone. The Quarter-Final would be immense, whoever is in it.

And yes, I’m hoping for England to play at least one match here, I’m sure my spare room (or my garage…) might become suddenly popular.

Having realised a long-held dream of watching Forest in Germany (granted, it was a friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt) getting the chance to see England would be immense.

Having membership for the club whose ground is being used won't make any difference to a persons chance of getting tickets. Strummer's chances of being successful if he apples for tickets to a game at Stuttgart are no better than if you or I do.

There are also „Hospitality“ options for tickets, but these start at €1.250 per person (or €1.950 for the quarter-final) so I think I’ll leave that.

Strummers chances are better than mine, cause I’ll not be applying 😉, shame in my opinion the host city’s fans don’t get an increased chance of a ticket, I’m not talking about filing the ground but maybe 10% of capacity.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I could afford to pay that, but I am not convinced I could justify that amount of money for just one football match, regardless of what it is.

I’d shudder to think how much hospitality costs for the Final though 😳
