I think he was instructed to stay on his line more, he's usually quite confident at coming out and claiming the ball from crosses and set plays so it was a little out of character

When you have a combination of McKenna, Cook and Worrall to contest every aerial ball in the box you can get away with leaving him to hold the line

I very much doubt it. Any decent goalkeeper who is able to will dominate his area in particular the 6 yard box. Truth is they have a significant advantage over any outfield player by using their hands and almost always being protected by the ref in a scrum of players. If a goal gets scored in that situation its because the goalie gets his timing or position badly wrong or simply drops the ball or screws up a punch (which is pretty infrequent if he gets to it properly at this level).

On top of that even the best CB's will expect their keeper to set up and defend the really deep stuff if at all possible and a big part of that is communication. Any CB, no matter how good can be out manoeuvred leading to him being outjumped-you only have to look at young Ryan for evidence of that in the last couple of games.

Done f*** all wrong. Cleared out the box with some good punches. Sharp reflexes. Conceded 2 goals in 4.

Keeps the jersey for me and I’m sue Coop will agree

And by the way I think Samba is up there with the best in this division

Hard to blame Horvath for their goal. He was tactically blocked by udders and there loads of bodies in the way. It was our defence at fault for allowing a free header

I think we can all agree it was a very bad goal to concede. The fault is (as always) likely multifactorial-someone has to cover the front post better the stop flick ons which are really dangerous but for me a direct ball into the 6 yard box should really be the keepers-if he comes for that he either gets something on it or is fouled 9 times out of 10.
Not saying it makes him a bad keeper by the way but I do think it was a mistake

It's all about mid-table...
Horvath's done well, think they were standard saves in the Hudds game, but he had no protection from the officials at set pieces.

Think Samba still the best option, just worry about him in big games, especially the FA Cup final :tysonflag2:

Did you see Yates get cleaned out by Hogg near the front post? The corner was excellent so it might well have flown past him if he had been able to jump for it, but as it was he was shoved in the back and unable to stop it reaching Lees. Should have been a foul but that doesn't excuse Cook falling asleep and then going on a momentary vacation with his marking.

But to the topic of Horvath, he still concerns me every time the ball is played back to him. For that reason alone I'd be tempted to recall Samba.

He’s done well when called upon but it’s Brice back for me. Don’t like the way he didn’t come for 2 crosses that should’ve been his all day. But whatever Coops decides is good with me.

I think Cooper will stick with him for as long as we are winning at home and not losing away.

Samba would have f**ked up quite a few of Horvaths saves recently, The yank is a better shot stopper than Samba, Its swings and roundabouts but I don't think there is a great deal between them, Both have better attributes in different areas , The one thing I like about Horvath is the safe pair of hands and calm persona rather than the erratic behaviour of Samba, For me Samba has lost the shirt for now and will have to work hard and wait for his chance again.
That's how it should be and we should never reward stupidity.

To be honest we've only seen 4 appearances from Horvath, he does look a safe pair of hands but i'm not sure we have a big enough sample size to say he's a better shot stopper

I have seen all I need to in those 4 games but obviously a longer assessment would be beneficial to everyone. I am sure he knows he is only a couple of shit games away from losing the shirt.

Cooper is going to have one hell of a decision on his hands for the Liverpool game at this rate.

Well said Lard.

For all the good work Samba does I'd be a bit nervous about entrusting him with the playoff games. He seems to react to reactive situations.

I'm glad that Horvath is now getting time to bed in and that he's a genuine option.

Radio view: Horvath worrying with a couple of decisions, distribution potentially costly.

But I'll have to wait for match replay before I can judge it myself.

Can't fault him for a clean sheet and a couple of saves. 1 goal conceded in 4 games is pretty decent.

Still might restore Samba v Liverpool.

He is going to cost us a goal with his kicking at some point, it’s almost guaranteed.

Good shot stopper though.

Another clean sheet. He remains number one until he makes a cock up.

Just a cock up or one that proves costly. That is the concern.

The season is getting to the knife edge stage and a single mistake could result in missing out on a play off spot.

He did save from point blank range today which was crucial in keeping 1-0 lead till half time when Forest weren't playing well.
