Does anyone really believe that Sheff U will pay the wages Shelvey will demand?
If he's he goes on a free transfer, I can't see the wages being too much of a burden for them.

I think we're overestimating a touch but only by a few million.

Moving players out is incredibly important this summer. We need a tighter squad.
If we continue at prices like £5m for Surridge we could easily raise all those projections. It will be playing the long game for outgoing players, lots will leave late in the window.

The buying club in this case has all of the bargaining chips. They know Shelvey is done here and we're desperate to get rid. There's absolutely no way they are taking on all of his wages, even if it's on a free.

If we manage to get rid of Shelvey, and that's a big if, it'll cost us either by paying him off in one sum or paying a significant contribution to his wage each week until his contract ends.

Kouyate is the big wildcard, given the location he's been linked to.
LOB - 8M
Bowler - 3M
Panzo - 2M

Would leave us getting 6M for Kouyate? As I said, the estimations are only a few million out in my opinion. The players certainly still have value.

The later we leave it in the window, the higher the risk we're left with unwanted players as well.

None of this makes sense.

Firstly, Sheffield Utd are running on a tight budget and they need to make quality acquisitions at good value prices. This is leverage against them.

Secondly, if we're transferring his contract we cannot continue to pay his wages or part because that would make us a third party.

It's possible we pay up part of his contract, that will depend on the structure of the deal we have with him. If we back load through appearances and contributions, then it's unlikely.

We would continue to pay part of his wages if he went on loan.

Surely the fact Sheff Utd are running on a tight budget makes it less likely they'll stump up all the money for his wages? They're skint and they know we need to get rid so it'll probably be a free transfer on 50% of his wages while we pay up the rest.

All in it'll probably be about £1m per appearance.

Glad Dennis is going tbh. Flattered to deceive. Thanks for the Newcastle goal, apart from that, good riddance!

A new concept in bankruptcy, sell a player and then pay his wages 🤣

I expected very good things from this dude, but boy was I disappointed. Get a decent deal out of it and run!

Can't see Leeds taking him unless they sell a few. They have an abundance of wingers/wide forwards in their squad.

Doesn’t look like he’s travelled with the squad to Spain…
He is the most logical one to sell to me. He still has value, we could probably fetch close to what we paid for him still.

He has talent, it was well worth the risk signing him but I think it's clear it's just not gonna work here, he doesn't fit us at all. I think he has to go somewhere he will be the best player to thrive.

I reckon we will get a good fee for him, I can see about 8M.

Leeds will sell Gnoto and probably Adams to find the summer spending and will surely be looking to bounce straight back up.

I've read Robbie Fowler's book (it isnt great) but one bit that stuck with me for being so ridiculous was that when he left Leeds for Man City on a perm transfer, Leeds were still paying a % of his wages.

That used to happen a lot. Not sure if things have changed now, but as a footballer, if you are sold to someone then your selling club is responsible for ensuring your wages remain the same for the remainder of your contract.
