Douglas Alan „Dougie“ Freedman

Funny but I don't agree. Pearce's appointment was all about restructuring the whole Club. The loss of a CEO, who I doubt will be replaced, and the appointment of Freedman narrows that focus down to nothing other than first team results.

In that respect Freedman might as well be stepping into a pair of knitted bootees.

That's quite an elaborate metaphor to squeeze into one photoshopped montage though.

I'd be interested to see the club's rhetoric, especially in the summer - providing Freedman makes it that long - regarding our aspirations. If we still bang the 'we're aiming for promotion' drum this year or the next I'll laugh in Fawaz's figurative face. His decisions and their delivery are atrocious and far more damaging to any aspirations than any of the men he hires.

But should we be giving a manager the power, control and influence to restructure the entire football club? Or should we be saying this is your squad, this is your budget, let me know what I can do and get on with your job?

Let's be fair as well promotion was the target here. The chairmen said it, the players said it and most crucially the manager said it and had still been saying it not as long as a month ago. There was nothing to show we were going anywhere near that target. That was his job, promotion. Not much more than that.

To me owning a club I wouldn't be asking my manager to restructure the whole thing. They shouldn't be influencing board level decisions and in all fairness, I don't think he was restructuring the entire club.

I mean if he was, then what's he done?

Good post

I agree with you on almost everything, i however wouldve let pearce see the season out. i dont think we wouldve been relegated, and lets see if there is any change in the disaster on field. Then made the change. Current managers i think freedman is up there with the best fits. Win percentage is an awful way to view him.

My tipping point was Rochdale away. I stood in that stand at the end of that game and thought to myself, there is no turnaround here.

I would be in agreement with you if it had been well into Feburary but I still feel, despite it being 13 points and despite there being plenty of good teams around us we have a shout at with the right management decisions reaching or at least competing for the top 6. I genuinely believe that with the talent we have in our side, we could do it.

Is Freedman the right man? Not totally sure, it'll be interesting to see but remember he did something very similar with Bolton Wanderers a couple of years ago. Perhaps that was took into account too?

I am seeking solace in the following thoughts:

He's not Paul Jewell
He's not Gary Megson
He's not Owen Coyle
He's not Paul Ince
He's not Phil 'Orange Faced Twat' 'Half time team talk on the pitch' Jones
I could go on with a few more that are way worse than he is.

I wonder if he gets on with Jack Lester? They were here at the same time as players, weren't they?

Dear Dougie,
Did you feel guilty talking to Fawaz behind Stuart Pearce's back?

Dear Dougie and Fawaz,
You two might get along just fine.

Dear Dougie,
Did you feel guilty talking to Fawaz behind Stuart Pearce's back?

I think that's quite unfair. What allegiance does Freedman have to Pearce?

I can understand your question being directed at Fawaz but if you're an out of work manager and somebody approaches you, what are you supposed to do? Not talk to them, because the club already has a manager? It's up to Fawaz to do it the right way and he hasn't handled it at all well.

Assuming you mean Phil Brown 4 of those managers you've named have achieved promotion from this division!

Astounding when you think about it.

Last year people complained we had no replacement when we sacked Davies - this year people complain he lined up a replacement when we sacked Pearce.

The last time I felt this negative about football was when Doughty died.

The guy's who's behaviour in all fairness seemed to have pushed many people at the club to the limit twice still didn't get that treatment, the guy who at very minimum absolutely deserved better that that from this club, got it.

What if he didn't do this and we were left with Gary Brazil again?

On what Fawaz has done replacement wise it shows he's learning & trying. What it also shows is how much perspective he lacks too.
I'm convinced Friedman being an ex player has factored in to this, and that shows just how distorted his perception is comparing Freedman to Pearce.

Disappointed to see Jose Riga go to Standard Liege today. He'd have been a perfect appointment. He's already used to working with a **** of an owner!!!

That would be stupid. Those weren't the only two options.

For all I care on Saturday he may as well have Brazil anyway.

I'm not convinced, I think that's just a coincidence. I think it might have been because he wanted someone that is used to not spending money.
