The issue here is that Paul Stretford is an agent, and therefore cannot be officially be part of any takeover board/team.
He also just happens to be Rooney's agent. The conflict of interest couldn't be more obvious.

If Stretford paying the wages "is nothing to do with the club" then the wages haven't been paid... Stretford has merely gifted/loaned the players money equivalent to their wages.
Unless he gifted the club the money or loaned it, but then you can't gift them money if you aren't a director/owner I believe.
