Diop Tehuti Djed-Hotep Spence

If Djed signed, he wouldn’t be able to play anywhere near the same type of game he did when we were in the Championship. I have the nostalgia, given how incredible him and Brennan were, but there are most likely many reasons why Spurs didn’t get the player they thought they were signing.
Worth a half season loan punt, nothing more.

Slightly disagree, he didn't look out of place in the cup games we played against Arsenal, Leicester and Liverpool. Like many others, I'd take him back in a heartbeat

Yeah, but most of the team looked good in those games - Worrall, McKenna, Grabban etc, but that doesn’t mean they instantly become good Premier League players.

Brennan proved himself in the Premier League in his first season. DJed was unlucky not to be a given a chance more at Spurs, even their fans were tweeting for him to get a more minutes than just the end of the games.

Spence has the natural ability to be a very good player at this level. Stacks of potential. Cooper loved him. Steven Reid was massively influential with him.

I also think he has the ability to play in a more advanced attacking role. Could play right wing, impact sub in an attacking role. And subsequently develop into a quality RWB.

Pace, athletic ability. Just what we are building.

Worth a go in my opinion at the right cost. Spurs don’t do you favours though unless it’s in their best interests, like in a speculated offer for Brennan.
Agree with the above. Spence has a lot more learning to do, but the talent is there. Just don't play him as a RB as the French did.

I say have him back in Cooper we trust

The effort he put in to get us back in the Prem was outstanding, he deserves his chance to shine and I would hate for it to be against us.

I'll bow to SC's better judgement here - if he wants him great, if not, no tears from me.

It's interesting how it all unfolded - we either didn't bid as we knew spurs would get him, or because we didn't want him. There's Williams to factor too - it's as likely SC saw him as a better option as it is second choice.

Of course, the only way we find out the answers are if we now go for him - my inkling is we won't because he's missed the boat, though perhaps there are legs in the Aurier to Saudi rumours, though I'd imagine we'd replace like for like in that case - not sure about Aina, but neither Spence or Williams are right backs so...

Tldr: wouldn't be against a return but can't see it.

On his way to Leeds on loan.

That’s gonna hurt seeing him play for them. Can’t believe we haven’t attempted to get him back.

I'm not.
Spence turned us down, allegedly, after we won promotion, because he wanted to go to Spurs.
However, he hasn't clinched it as a Premier League player with them.
And if he couldn't impress there, where he had always dreamed of being, he will find it hard to convince at any other Prem club.
Going to Leeds is a real backward step.
Everyone knows that.

As much as I will always appreciate Djed for his contribution to our promotion season, the club has moved on. IMO some of our fans should as well.

We already have 4 right backs on the books. Signing Djed would have made zero sense beyond sentimental reasons.

Incredible how we have signed a World Cup winning right back and still currently have Aurier there (plus Williams and Aina) and people STILL want this guy back, despite seemingly no other PL teams being interested in him!

One season... that's all he played for us.
Fine: him and Brennan linked up well going forward, IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
He looked suspect defending, and Joe had to bollock him at times, IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
He has played, what 3 minutes, in the Premier League...
And he couldn't get into Rennes team when loaned out to them...
He was a problem child at Boro before coming to Forest as well.

Perhaps it was Cooper that helped get the best out of him for that season?
