Can't be relied upon as he's usually injured, plus towards the end of the season he made Ali Dia look like Lionel Messi

Give him a chance in pre season, although I wouldn't be too bothered if he was sold. Wasn't he one of the players that Dougie used at the end of last season to see whether or not he was worth keeping? If so, then I think we've seen the last of him given his performances.

Perhaps the more relevant question is 'why do they all succeed elsewhere?'

Personally I think it's because we put players under pressure and not everyone can handle that.

Look at the badge. Look at the history. Look where this club should be.

You must make sure you get us back where we belong. You must play a certain style. You must go out and perform every game. You are not allowed one off game.

The fans demand it. The Chairman demands it. The manager demands it.

He's gonna be on an awful lot of money and he's dropped off a cliff in the last 12 months. He was so good until we signed him, then the injuries and an apparently lack of interest set in.

You might have a point. Every time our players walk into the ground, they see that list of trophies won.

Every time they run out the tunnel, they see opposite them the name of the greatest Manager in this club's proud history.

Maybe some of them lack the mental strength to deal with that?

We get decent gates too. All adds to the pressure.

Wanted us to sign him for years. Follow Crewe as my second team I guess and he looked the real deal right from the off with them. Delighted when he signed for us, could have been as pivotal as Nicky Shorey was for us. Just that extra spark to make the whole team tick.

Fast forward a couple of years and we have someone who has regressed massively and struggles to stay fit. Time has been called on him, if we can find him another club we should shift him.

That's defo on the right track.

It's not the demand that's the issue IMO, it's the over-demand. There's no let-up for players or managers here. If we're 12th we're "relegation fodder", if we're 7th we're "vastly underachieving" amd MUST be top 6, if we're top 6 we simply MUST be in the autos etc. etc.

The perspective of some(including Fawaz)is crackers, and how can any sustained motivation be expected when our staff's hard work is met with nothing but disregard and demand for more?

Blackstock is a great example. He's kept us up 2, some would say 3, times now and taken us to 2 playoffs. He has a few bad games and a blip in form and suddenly loads want rid.

It's shit really.

I think you're talking about two distinctly different things there Alf.

I agree completely about fans who cry for change after just a couple of bad results - not even bad performances. That can always happen in this league and just because we're Nottingham Forest doesn't mean we have any right to succeed.

The second aspect is about under-achievement and I think you are over simplifying it. I do agree that with the players we have nobody should take a top six place for granted, although I think we should have come a damn sight closer than we did. Where I disagree with you is about under-achievement given the investment we have made in this squad. Having spent the amount we have on transfers and the amount we clearly have on wages, this club and its fans should expect far more.

This is the fault of the players and the management, by which I mean Chairman and Manager. The players should be ashamed of such poor results given what they are collectively getting paid. And the management should be ashamed that they have spent so much to achieve so little.

You're talking about a seasoned international who has played for years in the top flight. Yet somehow he cannot handle the pressure of midtable division 2 football?

Also I don't think you'd find many sets of fans who would be as accepting of our current moribund state than those that support Forest. As for not giving players a chance, it is very rarely that the stats back up the claim. People banged on about us hounding out McGoldrick for instance, but have a look at the number of games he played and his goal scoring ratio then try and argue the point.

The thing is mate, that investment is HUGELY devalued because of inconsistancy steering the investment.

It's no good one manager signing a player for several million and then expecting another manager to be able to get the same from him, as that player is just a peice of the manager's vision, and the subsequent chap may have a totally different one.

Pato is a prime example, 8 goals in 10 games he gets for one chap, absolutely nowhere near that for the next. That's 1m wanked away right there because we again made changes when there was no real need to.

What the squad is worth and what has been invested is irrelevant in a lot of respects to success. It's all about context and like buying a pair of top dollar flairs and expecting to walk into Nottms finest VIP club and be the top fanny-swatter. Unless it's 1978 and Brian Cloughs in charge, it's an outdated investment.

Since coming back from his injury he has looked the shell of his former playing self. Hasn't inspired one iota when he has played. I'd much rather see Tesche in that role every week.

I think its the opposite, i think to most we are an employer who were good before most were born.

There's no doubting Vaughan's ability, but he's just not reliable which is something we need. When the going starts getting tough in January and he breaks down and leaves us with a gap in midfield, that's no good to anyone.

Quality that was totally absent in all games I saw him play. Knackered physically and currently bereft of any footballing quality.
A preseason might sort that but I somehow doubt it.

Yeah, he's useful to have in the squad but I think we need someone else that's more dependable playing in midfield.
