I hate the politics that goes with football. For me id play Hobbes and Mancienne in the middle every game, but you just know that because mills is a freedman signing he can't leave him out for long.

I agree Mancienne/Hobbs is on paper our best pairing.

Mills is also a good defender, and he is an organiser. I think part of the collapse at the end of last season was mental. Mills can combat that far more than Mancienne could. Currently Mancienne is being used elsewhere too. Another problem is a not settled defence, with Hobbs and Mancienne both having spells on the sidelines last season. Mills can help there too.

So Mills definately has a claim for being a starting Cb politics aside.

Speaking of which....does anyone remember the time when somebody recorded Bobby removing a blockage in her back passage?

I initially thought this was off topic but thinking about the Fox situation maybe Mr Brown might be able to remove the shit we have stuck in our back passage.

Out "for a few weeks", with an "unspecified knock".

I love it how vague your medical news about aged players look like. Just like with Cohen, what in reality is "who knows?" is expressed in typical British understatements.

 Forest have certainly kept their cards close to their chest with injuries. They've had the chance to in recent times to be fair !

I know this sounds harsh but I do think Fox and Lichaj need to earn extensions. A bit like Vaughan & Cohen last season. A lot can change still. Basically what Warbs was.saying in the presser in the week.

Worrall had to be secured as he is a big part of the clubs future and he goes away talking to 98% prem players for Eng u21s.

Eric? I thought he had a very good injury record.

He does.

The injuries weren't tied in with Lichaj and Fox having to earn deals. More a case of waiting like Cohen and Vaughan and let their talking be on the pitch.

Ah right, my apologies. If EL carries on the way he’s started his run this season then he’s a no brainer - loads going forward and defensively solid as a rock.

Re: Danny Fox

If Lichaj didn’t play in the useless gold cup during the summer, then he would’ve definitely started. That being said, Cash apparently looked comfortable in the RWB when we play 3 at the back.

Posted on the 3rd of Jan before Karanka was hired...

As long as there's a clause in his deal that says must play centre half.

 amazing isn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I think Fox isn't a bad player per say. I think he comes in for a lot of stick & is no worse than many we've had. But he's no way up to the standard we require for a promotion push, and should be one of the first names out the door for much better quality in the summer. He's a lower/mid Champ player at best, and how he's still here is bizare.

But this is a perfect example of how stupid constant changes at the club are. Fox is a tryer & someone who gives 100% in training, and when managers get their first glimpse of him they warm to him because of that. Who can blame them for keeping a man who puts all in when they arrive?

A good display against the side bottom who've only scored 13 goals at home all season (to put that into context, even with our latest toothless goaless run we've still scored 17) isn't something I hope we're basing contracts on. It'd essentially be re-signing players which cement us as a lower/mid champ side.

Fingers crossed it's just fluff to keep him motvated until season end.

Re: Danny Fox

Which Fox's contract do you want to renew? The terrible injury-prone left back who does not have the legs required by the position in modern football, or the seasoned, more or less reliable as a backup central defender?

Re: Danny Fox

Don't get me wrong I don't think he's as bad as he's made out to be and I actually see passion from him, he was the first over to the Burton player screaming at Lichaj after that tackle to grab him by his collar and shove him away. As a back up CB a new contract seems fine but we have Worrall, Tobias, Mancienne and by the sounds of it Dawson almost certain to come in, not to mention Anel training with the first team. Obviously that situation can change before the start of next season but I agree Alf I'm not sure Fox is promotion level (nor do I think Dawson is for that matter but thats besides the point) if that's what we're building towards.

If it's a ploy to keep him motivated fair enough and if he earns that contract by cementing himself ahead of the other centre halves before the end of the season then also fair enough.

It's not.

Aitor Karanka said:
He is happy here, but the main thing now is to win games and when we win those games, we will start speaking about the future.

The players need to earn their position on the pitch every week. If they train well, if they play well, then their contracts will arrive.

But what I like about Fox is that he understands the main thing now is to win games and to think about the team first, then his contract second.

Cracking shout Alf, Ultimately Fox hasnt given anyone a reason for criticism at CB but at the same time he hasnt done anything to warrant being left off the list of players deemed to be the crux of the problem at Forest.

I'd almost like him to get a contract to piss the folk who pick at him unconditionally, but that would go totally against the bigger picture.

He's midchampionship & we're looking to progress beyond that. I dont think his time here has warranted the criticism, but I'd call it a day & move on all the same.

Neither if we're being ruthless.

Fox tries hard and doesn't deserve a lot of the crap that comes his way but he isn't promotion standard and I think we'd benefit more from freeing up his wages to replace him this summer than keeping him as backup.

Definitely worth another year considering where we are and the current options at the back.

1 good game out of every three. And the two bad ones are usually shocking.. Unbelievable what you can get away with in professional football.
