I wouldn’t disagree with that, but in my experience you get that at most clubs. You can hear it on the telly or radio and from other teams’ games I’ve attended as a neutral I’ve heard much the same sort of thing from the home fans. Yes, football fans can be fickle, but I genuinely don’t think ours are any worse than anyone else’s in this respect.
Agree. But I still don’t understand it.

I wasn't suggesting that ours are worse or the only ones mate. I was merely pointing out that in the 60-odd years that I've been going to the CG we've always had that element who insist on behaving like that, moronic and pointless though it is.

Fair enough. And I quite agree it is moronic and pointless - like booing during a game it can’t possibly have a good effect.

The difference with McGovern is... He was a two times European Cup winning Captain and only earning a few bob a week in comparison to todays playboys, and McGovern hardly ever put a foot wrong.

It used to boil my pi55 when the brainless morons called him Kermit and such like.

When you weigh everything up, it's a difficult one because Chris is no longer a sellable asset to the football club, only an expense. If I'm his agent and with Chris in this kind of form, I'm looking for him to be the main striker somewhere and on main striker money with the next contract he signs.

I also think with his history of injuries (no pun but touch wood he stays fit), I'm not sure he lasts an entire season either as the main striker, a bit like Taiwo so then eventually we have to buy a backup but a backup that is going to be good enough to get goals and be content with being a backup.

Taiwo by contrast, is a sellable asset to the football club, even with his injuries. Taiwo is probably worth £25m-£30m to Forest. Fully fit, Awoniyi is capable of being a top half striker but I don't think like Chris, he stays fit for 38 games and given he's been out three times already this season, I don't think he can be relied upon.

It feels to me that it's mutually beneficial for Chris and Forest, for Chris to play his best football now. Forest maybe get the goals to stay in the league and Chris is on enough people's minds, that he gets himself a big money move somewhere in the summer and Forest free the wages up for a younger option.

I'd keep him but I wouldn't keep him and Taiwo together.

I always had Chris Wood down as a 6 yard box poacher. Deliver balls into the box and there’s a good chance he’d get a head to it.

Last nights goal proved there’s more to him although from 30 yards out no one in the stadium looked more surprised that it hit the back of the net than Wood did. 🤣

If both were fit, Id pick Wood over Taiwo.
Not for me but testament to Wood that you're willing to even entertain the thought.

Doubt he'll get a better offer elsewhere so makes sense for him to renew a year, doing so removes £3.75m from our FFP losses this year by way of being able to further amortise the remaining transfer fee.

I think he’s a better natural finisher than Taiwo. But Taiwo when 100% match fit gives the team a better outlet. We have two very good strikers for a team that’s in our position.
I think when completely 100% fit Taiwo was arguably our most important player but we were so reliant on him it was agonising when he inevitably got injured. Wood's revival under Nuno has been such a relief as well as a pleasant surprise.

If you'd asked me 6 months ago I'd have been counting down the days until Wood's contract was up but now it seems stupid not to renew as we're not going to find a similarly proven striker at this level that isn't going to cost the earth. If the rumours are true though about Wood being the highest earner at the club then surely at his age the club would offer reduced terms.

Sorry Alfie - I can't resist it.
I take it it you have changed your opinion of the that 'shit, waste of money CF', Wood then?

"Shit buy for Cooper" was my complaint. Also "shit value for money" as at his age he's not resell-able, and you know...we may need to think of finances or could end up getting points deductions and stuff.

No, not changed my mind on the first, yes changed my mind on the value for money, because even if we don't resell him his goals have already paid back what we've paid for him.

Definitely a much better buy than I thought he'd ever be.

Changed your mind yet on Cooper having an underperforming squad which should be mid-table? Or swapping Sangare for BJ being a "no-brainer" as he's "top class"? 😁

Be great if we could have them on the pitch/in the squad at the same time. Hoping for some good Taiwo news prior to wolves...

Cooper absolutely - Underperforming squad - Exhibit A - last nights nights match - we never produced quality like that under him
Sangare/BJ - Jury is still out for me.
BJ £47m=4 goals
Sangare - not worth what we paid so far
