Cooper absolutely - Underperforming squad - Exhibit A - last nights nights match - we never produced quality like that under him
Sangare/BJ - Jury is still out for me.
BJ £47m=4 goals
Sangare - not worth what we paid so far
So Johnson's 10 goals 3 assists last season count for nothing?

And his 7 assists count for nothing this year either, on top of those 5 goals (4 I think is just his league goals)?

Not to mention he's significantly younger with more room to grow.

Genuinely shocked at that. I'd trade BJ back for Sangare in a heartbeat. I'd be over the moon if that switch were to happen.

BJ was brilliant for us last season - without him we would have gone down
But £47m was too good an offer to turn down - even without the P&R situation

If that was the swap on the table - maybe - there is a player there - I just don't think we have seen it yet.
But if you consider players in BJ's position
BJ £47m = Elanga/CHO + £25m - Same ages/More goals/more assists & £25m in the bank (metaphorically speaking)

Overall, I'd sooner have bought Elanga + CHO and kept BJ but not bought Sangare myself.

Or even just kept Mangala instead of BJ.

Either way, I think your claim that swapping BJ for Sangare + £10m being a "no-brainer" and "game-changer" has been proven wrong tbh.

Just edited previous post.
We have since found out - it wasn't an option to keep BJ.
As I have said - I think we have seen little bits of what Sangare can do. He needs to show that consistently - I will give him the benefit, let's see what next season brings

I did think that originally but didn't think he was stood close enough to the camera to make such a big difference.

Turns out it is the camera, just had a Google and Hargreaves is 1.80 while Wood is 1.91
I was going to post a cow in the field far away Father Ted meme but you beat me to it!

@Alfie ..................
on that note of consolidatory agreement, I am logging off to pack and catch my flight to Spain.
I will have to watch the Spurs game in my local which will be full of gobby Cockneys
and back next Thursday in time for the Wolves game

Wood is outstanding - his link up play last night when players are around him was excellent too. Such a good signing.
Cracking technically, great with his back to goal recycling posession for MGW, knows exactly what position to be in to finish chances.

Id have him ahead of Awoniyi on all three counts. Id also counter anyone advocating Taiwo at "full match fitness" as I dont think that will ever happen.

It's probably worth pointing out, that this season, statistically, is Woody's best Goals to Games ratio, in the Premier League, since the 2017-18 season.

I'd have the limited edition fully fit Taiwo ahead of him for a starting berth based on my love of a battering ram striker who can finish, the added dimension his pace and battering ram out brings and for the reason that you don't need to think about playing an Origi type to compensate for the lack of long ball hold up play. It's a nice position to have both - even nicer if they were ever fully fit at the same time.

Happy for him, he's back to his burnley form and why newcastle paid 25m for him.

2017/18 he scored 10 PL goals and 6 were scored in the last 9 matches.
2018/19 he scored 10 PL goals and 8 were scored in the last 13 matches.
2019/20 he scored 14 PL goals and 4 were scored in the last 10 matches.
2020/21 he scored 12 PL goals and 8 were scored in the last 12 matches.
