Cheikhou Kouyaté

Personally I think he was trying to widen the wall to stop Toney from whipping it around him, which unfortunately left a massive hole where the ball went. He was overeager to stop the shot - don’t see that as cowardice myself
He pirouetted sideways on to the ball. I'm no geometry specialist, but to my understanding that drastically narrows the probable point of contact rather than widens it.
Let's be honest, he didn't want to get hit by the ball, plain and simple. All the more indefensible given it was his lazy foul that coughed up the free kick in the first place.

If it wasn’t for that creepy Dutch player that punched him in the bollox in the World Cup he might not have bottled it so badly

The more you have to defend, the greater the potential for mistakes. Players are human, humans make mistakes.

Take better care of the football, it's your friend, as I believe someone once said.

"Hold onto it, its not a f***ing hot potato"

My grandad from the sidelines for years, when I was about 8-12.

I'll never forgive the old duffer.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate is the subject of high-profile interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. The Middle East is causing quite a stir this summer, poaching players from some of European football’s top divisions.

Now, according to The Telegraph, Forest man Kouyate is a wanted man. The 33-year-old only arrived at the City Ground during the summer of 2022 but now he could depart.

33 year old with a year left on his contract. Couldn't blame either him or Forest for taking that deal really. Frees up a squad place and wages for us, and gives Kouyate a nice retirement fund.

Funny one - we're a bit light in midfield if we manage to shift Shelvey and O'Brien, so assumed we'd see Kouyate a for the remainder of his contract. Still got a year in him too at the same level as last year: largely reliable when fit.

One less gobshite...
Important last season where he offered experience and nouse.

I think we could lose him without too much grief this season. Replace him with similar.

Frueler too thinking about it. Perhaps O'Brien has a chance of working his way back into things preseason?

Think all three of Kouyate, Freuler and LOB will leave IMO.

It'd be quite a u-turn by the club to go from being willing to sell LOB to Blackburn and replacing him with Shelvey in January to wanting to keep him now. Really can't see it, unfortunately.

I can't either, but don't imagine we were expecting a bid for Kouyate. That said Maia and the Ivorian would be incredible business!

I reckon three out (Kouyate, Freuler and LOB) and two in this summer. Something like Maia plus another more established player (like Sangare, though that one is probably unlikely) would be good. I don’t particularly rate our midfield options beyond Yates, Mangala and Danilo so I'm all for the club freshening things up there.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I'd have maybe kept hold of Frueler. Otherwise I'm on a similar page. No Shelvey in your outs?
