Sorry but another one for the old uns.
Going back to the great Carey team. Do any of you know where they are now. I know that McKinlay and Baker have sadly passed away but what about Grummitt Hindley Winfield Hennessey Newton Barnwell Lyons Storey Moore and Wignall

I met Ian Storey-Moore whilst writing the book. He was out with Robbo and Larry Lloyd in West Bridgford.

John Barnwell and Ian Storey-Moore attend most home games. Terry Hennessey emigrated to Australia after working for a plastics firm in Heanor for many years, and Barry Lyons keeps a guest house in York. John Winfield lives in Spain I believe and I think Frank Wignall still lives in Burton Joyce.

No. It was a lunchtime and I remember every minute of it. I interviewed Robbo and got him and Muggsy to sign a shirt with 11 on the back. Robbo down 1 and Ian down the other 1. I also got Robbo to sign my copy of 'With Clough by Taylor'. These are my treasures!

The only downside was that they left me to pay the bill! I had hoped Liam O'Kane would be there too as he plays tennis with Robbo every week but sadly he couldn't make it.

Small price to pay for a memory like that though

There used to be fantastic atmosphere at the CG in those days, or so it seemed, and one of my absolute greatest memories was v Everton in the 6th round of the cup in '67, closely followed by v Eintracht Frankfurt in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in the October of the same year. Don't ask me why, but those 2 just stick in my memory. That said, there were loads of great games; in fact they all seemed special to a 13/14 year old.

Don't apologise about mentioning those players-they were all players in one of the best NFFC teams ever. As stated , I believe all of those guys are well, I'm pleased to say.
That's when it all started for me, I had the honour of walking back from the training ground with Johhny Carey after getting autographs, what a lovely bloke he was.
It all started in the Trent End around then, great times on and off the pitch. I'll be in the Trent End on Saturday, the atmosphere will be somewhat different from the sixties though, but still looking forward to it.

Peter Grummitt attended several home games last season. Peter Hindley has been a guest of the club at home games but he has not been well recently

I ran the Test Match up until 3 years ago, and I was so lucky to meet so many ex reds.

My fave was being asked to host a reception for Terry Hennessey when he returned from Oz.
I was due to be best man at my brothers wedding in Kefalonia and let my family fly out on the Thursday before, I had to join them on the Sunday after the party.
Hennessey, Newton, Grummet, Newton, Barnwell, Addison, Lyons, Chapman, Wignall, Hindley, Story-Moore plus others all attended and I had my photo taken with them as a group.

I managed to get a card signed by all of them for my brother but for some reason I deleted the photo of me with them.
Colin Addison was one of the most switched on, funny men I have ever met and Henry Newton defo uses just for men (great head of hair).

The funny thing is Im far to young to have seen any of them play but was in awe of the camaraderie of a group of 60 & 70 year olds you could imagine them in the same bar 40 years ago doing the same thing.

Great times

Tend to have a beer with Sam Chapman after every home game in Monkey Tree, Its amazing the stories about Greavsie, Best, Charlton and the like who were just normal blokes to Sam then.
