Macheda has looked the business at two poor teams. I'd love us to go for him.

Heard the old "great player in a poor side" thing before, didn't work out with McGoldrick. On the face of it you could say he was scoring for fun when really he got a few consolation goals when the game was already lost

It's actually worked out pretty well for McGoldrick except for at Forest. If Macheda scored the goals he's scored at any club in this league i'd be impressed.

Personally, I look at the type of goals strikers score for an indication as to how they'll carry it on elsewhere. He often gets the ball out his feet well and is calm in front of goal, often driving low across the 'keeper. So to me that says he needs the ball into feet, usually alongside a defender or just in behind. He doesn't seem pacey, but once he gets in front of his man, he is strong enough to keep them off.

I'd like him here as 1 of 4 strikers. I don't think any side needs more than 4. But we'd need to be finding his feet, which I think we've struggled to do a lot this year.

A lot of talk here in Coventry that we formally bid for Wilson on Wednesday. Only hearing chatter from fans repeating what they read on message boards though.

Edit: Ive just had a quick trawl but cant find any recent mention on their message boards. But i did find something from a month ago where one plank suggested we should give them £2m and Pato!

I hope that was a typo and he meant Pâté.

I'll keep plugging the Macheda hype until he's finally snapped up.

Young, unproven. Talented. Technically very good. Perfect for us.

I'm just the same...but with Troy Deeney...far, far better! Obvoiusly not as good technically, but sure he would score us a shitload of goals!

Come on, Pearce - make your move for this lad. Be great to get him in before the World Cup.

Actually, is that even possible yet? When does the transfer window open?

The transfer window opens just as soon as we've all gone 48 hours without speculating on new signings.

Probably, but the satisfaction of making a 20 goal a season striker is far greater than buying one for 4 million quid and laying that expectation at his door, and probably ruining him.

Macheda would come with zero pressure. Zero expectation. At a young age, with plenty to prove. Perfect.

I agree with this. Paterson's great season was made all the more satisfying because he came in under the radar, so to speak. There's a lot to be said for bringing in players without the expectation.

The trouble is, we won't allow that to happen, will we? We always pile expectation on em.

Macheda would come with massive pressure because you've been telling us for the last 9 months he's the answer to all our problems.
