BUPA - Folarin Balogun

Coopers #1 target.

Perfect striker/left side wing option. Prolific in France whilst on loan. Interest all over Europe.

Might well take £30 mil plus. This years MGW signing.

You'll have to do better than that.

What does that mean?
This thread needs substance.

You've joined the forum to post this thread, welcome. But you clearly know the forum as you used BUPA.

So, to your main claim... "Coopers #1 target." That's quite an assertion. It needs substance to make it stand.

Long time lurking. Very long time. Life long fan. Appreciate gaining credibility on fan forums takes time. Fair dues.

Just what I’ve heard. No trolling. Take that either way.

Welcome to the forum mate. It’s very early in the silly season and we’re all looking for something concrete but we’re probably a few weeks away.

We ain’t paying 20mil for Silas or Becker IF Arteta makes this lad available. Smith-Rowe, and Gallagher to another degree, are the easy links....different positions, key targets.

Balogun may have got himself a gig in Italy that we can’t match. But....

This would be hugely underwhelming.

He’d be an excellent signing and that’s not because he chose the US as his national team. had an HELLEVA year in Ligue 1.

I think despite his scoring record this year it is hard to ignore the quality of the league and his displays in England.

A fair few have come from Ligue 1 looking very good statistically and either struggled or failed to live up to the hype.

Either way I am certain the price will be high and risk will be higher. Not sure I’d put this in the excellent signing category due to that risk it translates to the prem.

Suppose you’re right, but that’s the risk in trying to find quality from other leagues.

Absolutely, and Europe / South America is the place I would be fishing this summer. However, on the evidence I have seen the French league may not be the best target. Now that doesn’t mean to say good players aren’t in the league I just think the hit rate for transitioning to English leagues seems lower

I'd put this in the excellent signing category if he is Cooper's number 1 target as claimed

For reference Chuba Akpom, awful for us in 2015, top goalscorer in the same league now. Obviously along time has passed between Akpom playing for us and now, but Balogun was still only 20 when he played for Boro and his first proper stint at a club.
