I always liked him. And he was in superb form last night against the Arsenal.

I watched last 15mins, he did a very Samba double punched save that cleared the area way out to safety that the commentator criticised as it was "unarthodox" then went down with a major head injury in stoppage time which the commentators had the AUDACITY to imply wasn't real

He bravely continued though

Was like stepping back in time lol

Its odd, I know everyone says 'I really hope he does well' when a player leaves their club, but Brice is someone I am actually genuinely so happy every time I hear he has a good game, and how he has progressed his career. Such a talented guy, who is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

I would love him back in the future, once we've matched his CL achievements by qualifying ourselves. Would cost a bit but, by god, it would be worth it. One of my favourite players from the past few years.

Loved Brice massively... but some cracks were showing (Cooper made the odd comment about his unpredictable side).

Sometimes a move is best for all parties, had he stayed, he might not be the player he is today.

If Cooper wanted him he would still be here, I got the impression he drove Coops mad at times with how nuts he could be.

No chance would we have offered him crap money if the coaching staff wanted to keep him, especially when we paid Henderson’s and Navas’ wages last season.

I thought he did an interview in the summer basically confirming he wanted to leave once he found out Lens were interested

Gave it a Google but can't find anything, so maybe I imagined it?

My understanding was that Lens were basically sweet talking him for a long, long time. Never quite bought into the contract dispute talk, think that was just a cover to leave without ruining his reputation with the fans.

Still, have fond memories of him and it's great to see him do well. Mostly a great keeper for us, though did have the tendency to have inexplicable dips in form and focus at times. Always felt losing his place to Horvath for a period gave him a much needed kick up the arse as, even putting his red card against Stoke to one side, an incredibly lax attempt at sweeping up basically gave Leicester a goal when we were cruising in the FA Cup.

Once he came back however, he was largely superb - form which culminated in his legendary performance against Sheff Utd in the playoff 2nd leg.

Would have been interesting to see how he did in the Premier League with us - though we've not exactly been struggling for goalkeepers since his departure. France is an easier gig than the Premier League for sure, but he's still done brilliantly and it's no mean feat to break into the French team.

I think this is a case of things ultimately working out well for both parties. Could argue we got shafted on price but Samba hadn't become the keeper he is now quite yet.

In any case, we've got plenty of good times to remember - and enough shithousery to last a lifetime.

He was as mad as a box of frogs, and we loved him for it; another man who will never have to buy a drink in Nottingham again, as long as he lives.

The narrative that he wanted to leave isn't true, believe he felt hard done by because he was promised a specific improved contract upon promotion that the club decided not to follow through with for whatever reason

He felt undervalued and decided to tap into his other options, he had PL offers (one being Leicester) but rejected them to take his family back to france and reunite with his old Caen GK coach Herve Sekli at Lens. Presumably they were prepared to give him long term security that we weren't

How do you know this for a fact?

Brice named as the tenth-best goalkeeper in world football at the Ballon d’Or.

C'est magnifique!
It just hurts everytime.

Quality reading the Evening Post's Facebook comments though with some fans saying he only had 1 good season, couldn't catch, was ill disciplined and we don't need him etc. 🤣

Most Forest fans don't know shit about f*** when it comes to football and nothing underpins that assertion more than detractors of Brice Samba when he's just been ranked the 10th best keeper in the world and those little gimps still have the gall to gob off.

Samba was and is a showman and is a very clever keeper.
He was always improving when he was here and that's why I was surprised when he left although you have to be realistic and ask yourself if you would choose Nottingham or the south of France to raise your young children?
No surprise he has stepped up his level in France and he deserves his success as such a nice character

I have no inside knowledge but I think it's obvious Samba had already decided to leave before promotion happened and our promotion didn't change his plans.
The reason I think that is because he announced it so quick on twitter most people thought he was joking.
And also with the owner and manager we have got I'm sure he would have been rewarded well especially when he was 1 of the main reasons we got promoted

His brother was on social media slagging the club off for not offering him a proper contract following promotion.

Nothing to do with location.

So right now our ex keeper is playing in the CL against Arsenal. In the meantime we have had a sicknote, a 36 yr old on loan, another 36 yr old who is totally past it, a keeper who can't kick, and now one who won't come off his line.

I get that Samba wanted to leave, and also that he was indeed unproven at the top level, but just goes to show.

I think it's actually the one position where we are weaker now than in the promotion side.
