Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

Sounds like stuff that should be resolved behind closed doors, if the club agreed to increase his wages on promotion and didn't then its not great if this hasn't happened.

My speculative view is that the club have said they don't want to increase his wage and not extend his stay as well so have potentially offered a salary equal to his promotion terms but for longer than a year or said that he can leave this summer before his payrise kicks in.

The stuff around Henderson is hardball from both sides, you can imagine being a bit miffed from Sambas point of view if they know the club will pay his replacement 4 or 5 times what they could pay him. The club essentially are saying that you can leave and we will replace you so essentially take it or leave it.

Its just frustrating to play out in public, ultimately Samba can sit tight and wait his contract out and if the contract specifically says he gets a payrise on promotion then that would be on higher terms.

I think part of the moneyball type approach is that players will come and go, one imagines at the age of 28 the club are conscious that his resale value could decline over time but it still seems a shame that a big character is looking at the exit as he's not someone I would have looked to replace.

Surely all the players signed in championship would have a clause that there wages would increase to x amount of the club got to the premier league. Is it that samba is now not happy with this amount, that was in his contract? Or is it that both samba n club were discussing a new contract and can’t agree on wages?

For anyone who doesn’t speak French:

When signing at #Nottingham, Samba simply negotiated a clause to increase his salary in the event of a move up to PL

No increase was offered to him

If that's true then surely the club has broken a contractual agreement and is liable to be sued by Brice? In which case we'll find out definitively who is telling porkies in the media.

A wage increase being triggered via his current contract doesn’t mean the club can’t offer a new contract does it…

Would loved to have had Samba between the sticks in the Prem😕 He would have milked the limelight.

Something not right about offering him a new wage on same money and then chasing a goalkeeper who is on close to 100k a week.

A very forest way to start the transfer window.

That probably didn't happen. Some people are too quick to believe everything they read in MSM & social media. There's far too little actual knowledge, and too much BS being passed off as fact.

This is a different Forest compared to the way things used to be done.

Allegedly - if you read it with your eyes squinty - that tweet is saying that all of those points are not true. In which case:

Sambas contract does not have a clause to increase on promotion
Henderson isn’t 3x higher wages than Samba
Forest *have* offered an increase to Samba?

Several things strike me here…

- It’s not plausible that Forest have contractually agreed to a rise and then not followed through on it. If they did that, he’d be going to a lawyer for breach of contract, not Twitter

- he almost certainly doesn’t know what Henderson has been offered

- most people would agree Henderson’s going rate is higher

- whatever the rights and wrongs here, what does he achieve by airing them on Twitter? I think this will confirm many people’s worries that he might not be as calm as he needs to be for top level football

It’s confusing but I took it as the Daily Mail article isn’t true and what that Santi fella wrote is true.

But as above, people just believe everything they see and then add their own wild interpretations to it, seen all sorts of absolute rubbish.

It's never a good idea to air your dirty laundry on social media, Brice. All it's going to do is burn your bridges.

Exactly, that's why he should now be done here no matter how good he is or what he's done for us.

I suspect this has more to do with correcting any flack he might have received for being greedy and wanting to leave. He clearly loved it at Forest. I suspect that the club didn't quite value him in the same way and think they can do better. It's hard to say either side is wrong.

Sadly this seems to be the case. Regardless of who feels right and who feels wronged, there shouldn't be this much noise being made about it by player or agent. Shithouse the opposition, not the hand which feeds you.

All the players at the club owe a LOT to the Coops & co for taking them to where they are. Brice's ego's got the best of him and we'd be daft to stick by a player with that type of inflated opinion who may turn out to be a dud in the Prem.

Time to move him on and upgrade. You were a good Championship Nottingham Forest keeper Brice, and thanks for helping get us up and getting us into a position where we can now bring someone in worthy of being Premiership Nottingham Forest's keeper.

Alf unquestioningly supporting the recruitment team.
