Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

During the 2021/22 season, Samba did not make a single error which directly lead to a goal being scored. (league)
He did, I can't remember the game, but he came storming out for a cross passed the back post, missed it by a country mile, the attacker then headed the ball back across the goal for a simple header.

How many goals have the opposition scored because Samba was rooted to his line for a cross?

I realise it may not count by the definition that the specific stat is using, but I'd argue twatting that Stoke player was an error, and led to a goal.
I'll see if I can dig out the quote/stat - the term was directly. I guess whacking a player not not as bad as Blackpool keeper kicking ball straight to Johnson to score, in terms of directness!

And I'd agree.

I like Samba and he's a good keeper but I feel like he gets a free pass from some people because of his zany personality.

If Figs had whacked someone round the head, got sent off and conceded a penalty he would've got absolute pelters on here.

I see people still saying his Brother got involved, I thought it was established that person wasn't Samba's brother?

Personally I couldn't care less about players going on twitter, you know if it had been around in the past many 'legends' would have been doing the exact same thing. As someone who is very much for worker rights and getting as much as you can from the people who employ you/knowing your own worth etc. then do what you got to do. I don't care at all though so don't go on twitter haha

It's not unprofessional, it's being human. People are allowed to do whatever they want - however, people are also allowed to react and people 'tweeting' have to face consequences of their actions too. But ultimately none of that matters in football really, whether it's Henderson or Samba what really matters is what actually happens on the pitch and let's be honest, everyone hear will support whichever one it is on opening day no matter what is said or tweeted or reported etc.

This thread, and the comments on the others, are testament to the fact he doesn’t get a free pass. But I think many people acknowledge that the odd mistake or “zany” moment is vastly outweighed by the incredible saves he makes and the enormous part he plays as part of our defensive unit.

The fact that folks are sat here talking about the mistakes he makes, and struggling to remember any other than Stoke says a lot.

If he leaves and is replaced by better then great. But he kept us in that play off semi final with his heroics and throughout his time here has made saves few other keepers in a Forest shirt would.

Good luck to him and I don’t get the need to scramble around trying to conjure up mistakes or perceived zany moments.

You say that, but I remember Marlon King getting a standing ovation for punching a Bradford player (think I have that right?) and I believe John Thompson once getting the same? I actually think if it had been say Yates or Garner kicking out at a player on the halfway line it would already have been forgotten, or say a Stoke player ran past Johnson and he did exactly what Samba did but in the Stoke half we'd not really be talking about it. Its just different when it's a keeper and it gives away a penalty lol

I know it doesn't really prove my point, but I had to google other red cards last season, apparently Colback and Gabriel got sent off...I not only don't remember them, but I'd forgot that Gabriel started the season lol

Edit - the season before, where we achieved nothing, Ionnou, Ribeiro, Knockhaert and Yates got red cards, again no idea what for but I can tell you 100% I don't remember them at all. But the fact people can't look past a red card for a guy who got us promoted is odd when people do get sent off all the time, even if Samba's red itself can't be defended, you can defend the guy overall for his contributions to us actually achieving something for the first time in over two decades lol

I think be gets fairly fair treatment, 90% of us recognise he's a great goalkeeper and like his antics, but know he could be better and is prone to a few clangers over a season (which goalie isn't).

The Stoke red upsets people moreso because it was f***ing stupid. He had the ball in his hands and twatted the bloke for no reason and then we conceded because of it. Getting a red card for a reckless challenge is 1 thing, but what he did was absolutely ridiculous.

I can't remember the Marlon King incident if I'm honest.

To be fair I said I thought he got a free pass from some people, not everyone.

Clearly he has his critics as evidenced by the discussion about mistakes on here, as you say.

For the record I think he's a good keeper and I hope he stays but if we can bring in Henderson then we absolutely should.

And best of luck to him if he does go.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong it was insanely stupid, as I say you can't defend the incident, but on the balance of his contributions last season I think it's fair to say the good WAY outweigh the positive. One VERY stupid red but getting promotion? I'd take that haha

I can't find any footage of the King red, but here's a report. First win in four months yet I remember Trent End giving him a standing ovation as he walked off the pitch...because a struggling team having their striker sent off and banned for fighting was so helpful lol

Edit - looking at the report a few things stand out...that team is AWFUL!! Want to feel even better about Samba/Henderson? We had Barry Roache in goal lol.

And second, it was one of the worst Forest sides ever and we hadn't won in four months...but ATTENDANCE: 26,021. We've always been loyal fans, and that is the proof for when we're accused of being glory supporters when we fill the stadium next year lol

Yeah his positives are far higher than the negatives.

I must have completely blanked that game from memory as I would have been there 😂

Completely agreed. Even the best goalkeepers in the world make mistakes; it's part of the position.

I don't think many fans were looking to replace Samba this summer, and he'd be more than adequate for a stab at the PL, but if it's an opportunity to improve then I hope the club takes it.

Where does this figure of £6.5K pw come from?

The tweet by Santi Auona that Samba endorsed states that Henderson is on 3 x Samba's salary - that would put Samba on about £33K pw if, as is claimed, Henderson is on £100K pw. Not bad for a champ level keeper.

Forest have distanced themselves from the notion that they would be paying Henderson's salary in full. Joining the dots, I would guesstimate Man U paying half, leaving Forest around 50k or so and Samba being offered around the 15k mark which is roughly a 1/3 of Hendersen's.

Only time I ever stood up for Marlon King was to tell the useless, lazy, car-stealing, woman-beating piece of shit to get the f*** out of my club

Hopefully I have done multi-quote correctly but...

Gamble - I wouldn't blame you for blocking that whole decade out!

Master Yates - one of my least favourite players ever. I remember Millwall away when their fans were banned, he hardly moved yet still missed two open goals.

Couldn't believe it when he fired Watford to the premier league shortly after, as captain too.

It's one of the reasons I can't look back at Hart too fondly, forcing Harewood out for 500k to signs King for 1mil, madness
