Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

Quntib Hollox

Jack Armstrong
Would loved to have had Samba between the sticks in the Prem😕 He would have milked the limelight.

Something not right about offering him a new wage on same money and then chasing a goalkeeper who is on close to 100k a week.

A very forest way to start the transfer window.
If there’s any truth in it.
Personally doesn’t ring true to me.

If I was Samba and the club offered to double my pay from 6.5k to 13k after promotion, even though it doesn't contravene any contracts, I would not be happy either. 13k is a joke when your team mates were on double that in the Championship. The figures are assumptions but you can only comment on what information is available.

Have said it many times, that save in the dying minutes again Sheff U was the single most important moment of the season. A true sliding doors moment. There was no coming back from that had we conceded.

Without him we would still be in the Championship, definitely losing 4 loanees plus Johnson and probably Worrall as well for a lot less than they are worth, and who knows consigned to the second tier for another 10 seasons. Cooper has done magnificently this season but there are no guarantees in football especially when your hands are tied due to ffp and are up against teams with parachute payments.

We should be looking forward to the new season with Brice as an integral part of the team. It's such a shame it's playing out this way.

Or maybe the club wanted an improvement anyway and offered him a wage they felt fitting of a second choice keeper.

Either way I couldn’t give a toss, Murphy and Cooper know what they’re doing, Hendo is an improvement so that’s all what matters.

Trust the men who got us to the dance.

For anyone who doesn’t speak French:

When signing at #Nottingham, Samba simply negotiated a clause to increase his salary in the event of a move up to PL

No increase was offered to him

Henderson's salary is three times higher than Samba's

Didn’t the original tweet from Santi whoever say “not true” about that article and then Samba said “Santi speaks facts” or whatever.

So Brice is saying that article is not true.

I don’t get why people are getting their pants in a twist

Honestly, no one knows what the f*** is going on so assuming they offered him £13k pw is as big as guess as any. Marianakis said he was going to double the level of investment to make us competitive this week so £13k pw for our first choice goalkeeper prior to this nonsense sounds like bullshit to me.

Whatever has happened, clearly a point of no return has been passed.

Theres another explanation and that's that the "club" (Coops predominantly) are not that enamoured with Brice and want rid of him. By low balling him with regard to the contract they have made him and his side hawk him around clubs that might be interested, that way we can still push hard for decent fee claiming hes wanted...

Don't forget, whatever the truth. On the day this story first broke quoting his agent, his Brother also pit out a message about 'respecting his worth' or something.

This story, and Brice's grievances, been around for a while now.

In that time, we've forgotten Nick Pope and fallen I love with Dean Henderson.

How times flies, eh?

£13k was magicked up because it said he earns £6.5k on a random site, it’s a completely fictional figure.

I find it hard to believe that any of our first team regulars earn as little as £6.5k per week. That's less than a lot of the players we signed under embargo under Dougie Freedman!

Must be a culture thing? There's no way he should be conducting his feelings on negotiations via twitter, sure the club will advise all players against social media for anything negative but we know full well he's his own man...I don't blame him one bit if it's true....

Brice we enjoyed you for the time you were here but you have been silly listening to agents and journalists and even more stupid spouting on social media, so goodbye and all of the best for the future in France

That same random site states the following figures:

Arter 40k
Jenkinson 27k
Grabban 25k
Bong 18k
Worrall 10k
Johnson 2.5k

Kevin De Bruyne 250k
Ronaldo 480k
Pogba 290k

What do those who claim to be in the know think about those figures?

If it’s transfermarkt then it’s generally considered accurate

Yeah probably not far off the truth.

Arter looks very toppy though. More likely he’s on around the same as Grabbs, mid to high 20s

Where does this figure of £6.5K pw come from?

The tweet by Santi Auona that Samba endorsed states that Henderson is on 3 x Samba's salary - that would put Samba on about £33K pw if, as is claimed, Henderson is on £100K pw. Not bad for a champ level keeper.

Interestingly, to another Samba, according to Soccerway Samba Sow has only made 11 domestic appearances since leaving us for Lens 2. Also, Samba Sow, the Lens midfielder, hasn't been involved in any of the 38 games that his side have played in the Ligue 1 so far in 2021/2022. Sow moved to Lens in October 2021 from Lens II, for whom he made 11 league appearances in total.

However he was deemed pretty irreplaceable by some at the time, yet I don't recall anyone missing him last year when Yates & Garner were getting us promoted.

It's this type of proper club management I've got faith in handling the situation with Brice. If he goes, we'll only be upgrading long term.

I mean, let's whisper it, but Samba isn't that good.

He's eccentric, and fun, and makes some outstanding stops. He also charges off his line a lot and is regularly caught in poor positions. He's also gone through some very sketchy runs of form (where many were calling for his head).

He's most certainly a very good Championship keeper but entirely untested at Prem level and whilst a cult hero and deserves immense credit for the playoffs, he is nowhere near as proven as Henderson, or many of the other touted options. If he goes, he goes.

You'd never believe he was part of a really good defensive unit, would you?

All these errors I keep reading about. So many goals we conceded, all down to him. Amazing that we got promoted really, with such a liability between the sticks.
