Worth pointing out though, we'd have been through in normal time if it wasn't for his gaff at Bramall Lane.

So I'd say some of the criticism levelled at him was valid (doesn't mean people hate him or think he's bad, something which a lot of posters really struggle to grasp)

Fantastic way to redeem himself though, and his cult status is well earned.

Are you for real?

The failure to take a significant lead back to the WFCG was down to poor finishing and passing more than anything else.

He's been a legend for a while in a "offbeat cult hero" sort of way.

Now he's a legend in a "Shilton in Madrid" sort of way.

(Though a less Shilton-like goalkeeper it would be hard to imagine)

I'm certainly not discounting those facts either. But the last minute goal certainly didn't help.

Like I say, credit to Samba for making amends. Showed a lot of character, and deserves his legend tag.

So we win first leg 2-0. It’s then almost immediately 2-1 on aggregate if Samba doesn’t make that early 1 on 1 save. He made amends within minutes.

He was brilliant last night. The late save from NDiaye with his foot was absolutely ridiculous. Ridiculous. Up there with the Jordan Smith vs Ipswich save and Shilton vs Coventry in terms of importance.

He was superb yesterday. Two absolute world class saves, of the „how the f—k did he do that“ variety, then his heroics in the shootout.

With all due respect, do you understand how football works?

You say his mistake meant we would have gone through, but how much of his style of play helped make it 2-0 to start with? Not only his distribution but his willingness to be given the ball, how much does that help settle us down and let us control games? How many crosses did he come for and collect? How many clean catches? Do you not see that so many of our attacks actually start from the back, which Samba is a huge part of? How many of those counter attacks against Sheff Utd that were so dangerous started from his quick thinking or accurate throws?

I don't mean this to sound harsh, it's coming from a genuine place I 100% promise you, BUT there is more to life than being right. You gave an opinion on the forum about Samba needing dropped, you've managed to throw in casually multiple times how being dropped helped him (no proof of that), and even now after yesterday both his performance and how much this means as a club you feel the need to post that, when any one who follows football knows what you're saying is beyond harsh, and is once against trying to justify an opinion you wrote to I'm guessing mainly people you haven't even met months ago. If you are getting your self esteem from being correct on a forum, or if it is really meaning that much to you then maybe you should take a break as that's honestly not healthy dude.

Social Media can take people to bad places, today all Forest fans should be insanely happy, and lets be honest we should being love with this guy, if you're letting an opinion you write that long ago, that most people would have forgot if you didn't keep reminding them with little comment, affect you then honestly maybe have a think

(Again, I say out of concern as I have seen this sort of thing before!)

Edit - take note from Mase, sometimes it's ok to be wrong haha!

I change my vote of player of the season from McKenna to Samba. Watching the game back he was ever better than I thought he was in the stadium.

Also worth noting that after the game Daws said that he wasn't the same keeper in those covid games with no fans in the ground.

He feeds off the fan energy.

Not to keep harping on, but just watched the Johnson goal in the Johnson thread

I know people talk about Samba's distribution, but I feel too often that is just looked at when people ping 70 yard balls out to the wing

But for that goal we had Worrall on the ball on the right, but he felt comfortable enough to go all the way back to Samba, he didn't need to take a touch to sort his feet, played it first time to McKenna, who plays it forward and seconds later 1-0

I know that's not the stuff that'll get looked at and praised, BUT if he wasn't as good would Worrall have passed it back? Or just hit it forward? Even though it looked simple, how many keepers would have either needed to take a touch just to control the ball before passing? Slowing it down just enough for Sheff Utd to get in a better position

He is like playing with 11 outfield players, whilst also being a top quality goalkeeper

Nah it was to sneak on his cheat sheet

Who knew Samba had cheat codes for a penalty shootout.

At this level, Brice Samba himself is a cheat code.
