Ahead of the Spurs game and BJ's return to the WFCG.

From the Spurs forum:

Seems way too timid.

Underwhelmed when we signed him. Very, very unimpressed with him tonight. Terrible display. Couldn't shoot, cross, looked lightweight, no take-ons, etc.

Hope he proves me wrong but got some serious reservations about him...

Will be a squad player at best here. The stats showed before we signed him that he literally isn’t progressive whatsoever. He rarely takes on players in a 1v1 and he doesn’t make any forward passes at all. Hes in the bottom 1% in top 5 leagues for progressive passes 🤦‍♂️

He’s mostly a player for counter attack games or as a super sub I think. Long term I believe we need a new LW and RW

Needs to work on his left foot. I understand the whole inverted spiel but he’s a fast player who can take on full backs and get in some crosses. His shooting also needs to step up a gear. Very soft shots and passes some times

Hit and hope player. Just swings a foot and hopes for the best. Doesn't get involved enough

A tidy player who offers little to nothing.

He has good movement off the ball and is very quick.

He will need to work on the end product for sure though.. he is a bit raw.

Can't believe he he's worth the 47.5m transfer fee.......it would have been better signing Cole Palmer for 40m and he's what I call a rising star!

Good, but not elite movement going forward but doesn't track back.

Couldnt finish a packet of crisps

I'm really concerned about this signing. I'm not seeing it. Truly shite tonight.

Looks real lightweight and not a very bold winger

He played bloody well against City, you ***** are so fickle, this forum is increasingly driven by shitposter melts

Perhaps, but that’s the nature of the game.

I desperately want him to do well but my main concern is the money we spent on him at a time when we really needed to replace Harry’s goals.

I just don’t see that selfish desperation to get a shot off and try and win the game. It’s as if he’s thinking about things too much.

He has some great core attributes. Well, he’s fast. But we need more than that at the moment. And if he’s ‘one for the future’, we overpaid.

Both wings had that 'overthinking' feel today. The lack of quality crosses meant we recycled back to the centre and then back to the wing again.

A Bakayoko-profile winger is what I'm hoping for. Strong, fast, technically sound and able to put the ball in/take on their man.

There are maturity issues that’ll develop with time, no issue with that.

My worry right now is technically he doesn’t look great. His first touch isn’t particularly sharp and I think that puts him off balance a lot. He need to get the ball under control a lot lot quicker and that will allow him to cause more issue for defenders.

No doubt raw talent but he has a lot to work on. 👍

No need to panic yet guys!

People wanted kane sold for the good of the club. This is the replacement. Absolute madness.

Perhaps I've got it all wrong but I though he WAS a cut in and shoot player that Forest favoured from the right.

I thought the flip to the left was about him NOT being inverted and trying to get him to play a bit more like a trad winger instead.

1. Most people reluctantly accepted the sale of Kane cos they didn't want to lose him for nothing a year later (personally I'd have prefered to have kept him, but.....).

2. Johnson is NOT a Kane replacement.

At forest his goals were usually drilled shots from the right hand side (or up top). His approach play was usually him running in from the right (or even up top). Personally I actually believed his best position was centrally but having seen him closer now he's joined us he looks like he can do a job on the left if called upon BUT would be more effective on the right.

Moving forward it's probably best to play him on the right rather then judging him playing In a position he's rarely played in.

Oh he had absolutely shit game. Nervous, anxious, no composure.
Did not create nor finish.

But that was that - very shit performance.
Does not mean he is shit player and we should write him off right here and now.

Most likely starts against Toon as well, based on our injury list... Hope he does better then.

I think he's shown flashes of genuine talent and can do good things but last night was poor, he totally hid in the second half (like Sonny) which was a bit worrying. He's a very young player though and I expected this inconsistency, I just hope he grows into the role and gains some confidence.

As far as I'm concerned, he's made his choice, and will be treated like any other opposition player.

We need someone to clobber him into (or over) the advertising hoardings in the first few minutes.

I find the overly respectful applauses of opposition players cringe to be honest. Thought the reception Spence got last year was well over the top and embarrassing.

I won't clap him but I won't boo him unless it will visibly affect him.

Johnson is one player who deserves a proper applause I think. What he did for us in two years was the closest thing to a Collymore effect we’ll ever see again. Add to that he is from the academy and he even left in the right manner, just did his job right up until the last with his usual top attitude. I’m not there on Friday but if I was he’d be getting the standing ovation he deserves from me.

I won't boo Johnno, I'll clap him at the end of the game and maybe the warm up.

During the game I hope we sing "You used to play for a blog club"

Not our player anymore

If booing and jeering him at every opportunity makes it more likely we get a result then I encourage everyone to do so

Don't like it, but that's the way it is
Exactly, we're there to win a game of football, it's not some long lost family reunion. You have to take every little advantage you can gain, if that means booing and jeering to put him off his game, then so be it.

I think give him a good good cheer before kick off. Once we kick off, boo the bejesus out of him. He deserves a huge amount of respect and appreciation from Forest fans, but not during the game. If he gets subbed, hopefully after having a stinker, give him a standing ovation. The Spurs fans have been quite vocal about him being poor so far though, so he's bound to score a hattrick such is the poetry of football.
