Robert Learnshaw
COYR
If he plays, after todays game we'll either be saying he needs a rest or he needs to play every game, I wonder which one it will be
This is exactly it. The reality is that we carried him last season as well but that was ok for two reasons. The first he was giving us moments, goals and assists. The second is that the quality of the opposition meant we could afford to effectively play with 10 men until he popped up to do something, we definitely cannot do that now and it is being horribly exposed. You can't carry players at this level and the reality is he is getting carried.
He needs to be dropped because his all round game is really poor and without any x-factor, it's a hindrance. There is no intensity or build up play to his game - he is too slow on the ball. He is not using his pace by going past players or running into the space effectively. It may be because players at this level are quicker, stronger & smarter but it's give and take.
We need to see more from him, whether he needs a kick up the arse or not I don't know. But when you know players often have the beating of you, you work harder. Are we seeing the real hard yards from him?
I agree, so many times last season my brother snd I would joke that Johnson has done nothing all game, which meant he was bound to score soon. This is exactly it. He played a full 90 again today despite looking the least effective attacking player, again.
I wouldn't say bin him off, but I think he should start on the bench against BrightonHe is looking lost in a side that is nowhere near a completed project, in his first season in the Prem. Talk of binning him off for good is very, very premature.
No one is talking about binning him off permanently, just for now until he can actually contribute to the team.He is looking lost in a side that is nowhere near a completed project, in his first season in the Prem. Talk of binning him off for good is very, very premature.
This. It's like Johnson is still playing the same way he did last season when we had Spence. He stays in the same areas of the pitch hugging the touchline staying too close to defenders. It's just that he doesn't have Spence bombing past him, carrying the ball to him or playing one twos. And also the defenders he was able to run past last year are faster and stronger.Turns out it was Spence who made the right side work last season, as Johnson is not creating anything this season, and also showing up the weakness of Williams going forward. Today when he went on the left, it was a joke, as twice he tried to cross left footed and absolutely useless.
That sounds like Joe Lolley without Matty Cash.Turns out it was Spence who made the right side work last season, as Johnson is not creating anything this season, and also showing up the weakness of Williams going forward. You're right, but when he does eventually get the ball he's making a complete mess of it. That move today where he ran the ball out of touch was absolutely dismal at any level. He's one of our own but he needs to be benched after his recent performances.I understand why Cooper persists with him and it's nothing to do with favoritism, he wants an outlet that (in theory) is available as an option for an out ball at almost any moment, a player like Johnson is the perfect candidate because with his pace all that's needed is one well placed ball and we can instantly turn defence into attack. The problem is we can't find a way to release him, and when we do play the ball into him he's isolated and looks lost at sea
Not one person at the club wanted the 1st division more than Brennan, you only have to look at his reactions for last season's last two games. You can't carry players at this level and the reality is he is getting carried.

No way did we carry Brennan last season! He was an integral part in that promotion winning team and won us many many points. Can't believe I've just read thatThis is exactly it.
