sorry (but not really sorry) i want BOTH ! beating the scousers AGAIN would be great (they are such poor losers) and promotion gives us the right to do that on a regular basis.

Excuse my candour but f*** being rational- for an oldish (very late 30’s) fan like me I still remember pretty much having Liverpool’s number at the city ground, I remember regular cup semis/finals and I’m desperate to taste that again. If we go up we won’t be winning every match but just imagine how amazing a cup semi final would be!

Of course there’s a loooooong way to go and beating Hudz is by no means going to be easy- but given a choice it would be beating Liverpool every single day of the week. Dreaming about a cup final win beats the hell out of dreaming about the playoffs.

We are playing great football and we’re in a strong position so there is only one aim….to win every single match we play.

However, if it’s a case of either / or then promotion is, and always will be the priority.

A one-off victory over Liverpool would be an intensely glorious, but quickly forgotten moment in our history, that ultimately achieved little. (especially if we get thrashed by Man City in the next round)

Promotion would be, if managed correctly, the first tentative step towards really taking the club back to somewhere that it hasn't been for too long - and we could revel in the glory all postseason...(before getting whalloped every week in the Premier League)

This.

As much as I’d like to see Forest beat Liverpool again it wouldn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

I'd take promotion but I must admit I've got a 100% attendance record vs the Klopp-out thieving delinquents.

Whilst I think this thread has put a hoodo on us beating Huddersfield, I’d take the win over Liverpool every day of the week. I hate the f***ers. I can’t stand Scousers. All think they are comedians. Bunch of pricks

I could go on

And beating them takes us to Wembley

If we get past Huddersfield, I’m telling you, come ko when those ***** have been in around the city, every f***er on here would spew promotion to beat those *****

Look, let’s be honest - and I speak as someone who’s seen Forest batter the scousers in person, back in the day - if Forest beat Udders, it would be a massive reach to beat the mickey mousers in the cup, simply because of the quality even their second XI can call on?

And, you know what?

I don’t care.

Granted, sticking one up the scouse turds and their arsehole Manager would be great, but for me, I’d rather the club be concentrating on the League.

Yes, doing over the scouse would be awesome. But financially and competition wise it would pale into comparison with getting promotion.

Beat Huddersfield and we'd have one shot at beating the scouse twats

Get promoted and we'll have at least two shots at beating the scouse twats

So promotion for me

Well, looking at the replies, I'm going to go out on a limb.

I want to beat the scousers.

AND get promoted.

And I think this season we have a genuine shout at both.

I'm fortunate in that I have seen us win the FA Cup, albeit as a 10-year-old on a black-and-white 15-inch-screen, and I was in the crowd outside of Midland Station when the team returned with the trophy. So, although I'd obviously love to be in attendance at Wembley to see us do it again one day, my real desire before I pop-my-clogs is to see us become an established top-flight club again.

Assuming we get past Huddersfield, let Liverpool have their day because it's promotion all the way for me.

I'm probably in the minority here but I actually think promotion would be a double-edged sword for us. I think it'd solve some problems and create some new ones.
I'd rather be competitive in the Championship if I'm honest than be a team like West Brom or Fulham which is what I think we'd be.

All due respect to both Leicester, Huddersfield and Arsenal but Liverpool are one of the top four sides in Europe.
Beating Liverpool as well as Leicester and Arsenal in a cup run would put this season down in Forest folklore.
IF we beat them, we'd have a date at Wembley Stadium in an FA Cup Semi Final, having taken out three good Premierleague teams along the way.

I'd take beating Liverpool over promotion.

Fuckin hell.

We've been out of the top flight for 23 years. Half the world (of a certain age) haven't heard of us as we're in relative obscurity whilst every Premier League club has worldwide exposure and coverage.

Even if we beat Liverpool they're still likely to win either the Champions League or the League title. Won't mean f*** all.

The Championship is shit. I hate it.

At one end of the scale you get parasite payment clubs who tend to dominate the league with their resources, which comparatively speaking give them a much bigger advantage against us than the advantage the likes of Liverpool and Man City would have against us if we got promoted with PL money that comes with it. At the other end you've got completely dull teams like Peterborough and Rotherham which offer no opportunity for a decent away trip. And then in the middle you have the almost equally dull perma-representatives of this league like us, Derby, Preston etc.

That's before considering the quality increase we'll be able to see if we go up, not just in that first year but in subsequent years too as we become the parachute payment club who can dominate this league.

Yeah Sky interference would be annoying but there's almost nothing to look forward to in this league so it's irrelevant.

The Championship is utter purgatory for me. I can't wait to leave it, hopefully in the right direction.

VAR Maxi, plus regular changes to the schedule. I like the champ but there are too many teams in it, it would be great as a 20 club league. Looking at the finance though we must get promotion soon. The current owners have improved the club a lot but there comes a time as seen down the A52 when any owner can't keep funding huge losses.

Even 1 season in the Prem makes the club much stronger financially for the next 5 years. You could waste all the tv money on player costs but clubs don't tend to do it now. Norwich are a yo-yo club but a very well run club, we could emulate.

But promotion just has to be our priority.

May I just say that regardless of where we are at the end of the season, this has been an absolutely joyous time. What a time to be a Forest fan.

Silly question, the so called feud with Liverpool took place a generation before lots of current supporters were born so beating them would be amazing simply because it puts us on the map again and gives us a shot at Wembley, not because it settles some ancient rivalry that nobody really bothers about now.
