It’s not though, a mate of mine is from Liverpool way and has a season ticket, the last time we were in the play offs he told me a group of old boys were discussing us saying they hope we go up simply so they can twat us twice in a season.

I can assure you if we play them you will see the rivalry works both ways, maybe the new wave Liverpool fan who lives in Plymouth doesn’t care for us but the actual scousers who either lived through the era we knocked them off their perch or had their old man tell them it hate us.

On that note put me down for beating the scousers should we make it past hudds.

They still sing about us on occasion...sure for a huge chunk of their fans we're irrelevant but for those of a certain vintage...

Is it though? I was looking at the past 30 year winners, we could get to the premier league and sat there for 30 years and easily not win a trophy. So if someone said to me this year pick one FA Cup win or Promotion id pick a trophy every single day of the week.

Anyway in fairness its a hypothetical question when in reality there is no reason why we cant target both.

I dont think its embarrassing I dislike Liverpool on a non football level it transponds that. They arent a rival just a very horrible club at times. The whole scouse not english mantra is summing them up and you dont get that sentiment at Everton.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, we have to get past Huddersfield first and that won’t be easy.

As someone of a certain vintage I really hate the Scousers. Okay, Derby are our local rivals but if they weren’t that then I’d be totally indifferent towards them. Liverpoo is a different matter entirely. I want them to lose every game they play and I’d get the greatest pleasure if we were to beat them.

I think promotion vs winning the FA cup would have been a more equitable comparison rather than just beating the Scouse. We will still be lucky to get into the play-offs, let alone win them, but we will also be lucky to beat the scouse gits (if we get past udders).

No team outside of top flight football has won the FA cup since West Ham in 1980 and nobody outside the Premier League at all. If we were to, although unlikely I know, that would put us in the history books.

In my time as a Forest fan we have won the league title, two European cups, four league cups, European Super Cup, the Charity Shield, a few minor competitions and have been runners-up in a number of times. I’ve never seen us win the FA Cup and those opportunities don’t come around very often – certainly less so than chances of promotion.

I know promotion is the big prize as far as the club is concerned but I sometimes feel that the amount of money in the game at that level and the way Sky dictates everything leaves it all a bit soulless, especially compared to the magic of the cup.

Head says promotion but heart says win the cup.

That's just triggered a memory of when I got out the nick in 94 and had the square root of f***-all. Ended up in a shelter with only the piss stained clobber I was discharged in and was offered some clothes donated to the charity, which included a pair of brand new Spurs Le Coq shell bottoms.
