As many have reported beforehand, my wife is ordering it for me for Christmas so I will need to defer the pleasure/pain of reading it.
From what I have read in comments Brian comes across as something of a saint and, indeed he clearly was an exceptionally good man.
However, like the rest of us that were there that day, he refused to succumb to the scouse loving/fearing whitewash as was brutally highlighted by Phil Scraton in a recent letter to the Guardian, referring to Brian’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge that Liverpool fans were not responsible for the Hillsborough disaster.
I don’t know why you feel the need to change my post and I certainly have no interest in reopening a debate on responsibility for the disaster, as this has been done to death in previous threads. You only have to read the Independent Hillsborough report to get to the truth of the matter.
As for using the argument about being there, well, I was there too with two Irish doctor friends who were desperately trying to save lives on the pitch.
The loss of life, husbands, wives and indeed children is far more important than petty point scoring and ancient prejudices.
Fair enough, Rigamortis. Not sure why it was brought up and certainly don't want the thread hijacked by Hillsborough.
Red Bandit, it's my book and was written how I saw it.
If you want to highlight his flaws, feel free to write your own book.

I hope it's ok to post this.
I join in from around 22 mins.

I bought the book for my Dad for Xmas, he said it was a really good read. Thanks so much for all the kind and positive words. It's been really uplifting to keep popping back and reading the updates.
Been a cracking couple of months on the field as well. Spence looks a real player and fingers crossed this is the season the good times return under Coops.
It's a bloody good job he's a good manager 'cos he's got a face a mother couldn't love!!!
Happy days.

‘Provided you don’t kiss me’ is the best football book I’ve ever read-a ‘warts and all’ account of Brian Clough’s reign at Nottingham Forest. For those interested the paperback is out now.
