Be Good Love Brian

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
As many have reported beforehand, my wife is ordering it for me for Christmas so I will need to defer the pleasure/pain of reading it.
From what I have read in comments Brian comes across as something of a saint and, indeed he clearly was an exceptionally good man.
However, like the rest of us that were there that day, he refused to succumb to the scouse loving/fearing whitewash as was brutally highlighted by Phil Scraton in a recent letter to the Guardian, referring to Brian’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge that Liverpool fans were not responsible for the Hillsborough disaster.

I don’t know why you feel the need to change my post and I certainly have no interest in reopening a debate on responsibility for the disaster, as this has been done to death in previous threads. You only have to read the Independent Hillsborough report to get to the truth of the matter.
As for using the argument about being there, well, I was there too with two Irish doctor friends who were desperately trying to save lives on the pitch.
The loss of life, husbands, wives and indeed children is far more important than petty point scoring and ancient prejudices.

Some fair points. But what year was the report written? What year did the Hillsborough cover up finally get fully unearthed and what year did Brian Clough die? He was some guy but surely not enough to be able to read independent reports and judicial inquiries in to the future.

Not sure why it was brought up and certainly don't want the thread hijacked by Hillsborough.

Red Bandit, it's my book and was written how I saw it.

If you want to highlight his flaws, feel free to write your own book.

Fair enough, Rigamortis.
I’m not trying to hijack your book, which, as I have clearly pointed out, I haven’t read yet.
I love Brian Clough and I shall be forever grateful for what he did for this club.
Just wanted to make the point that, like the rest of us, he wasn’t perfect.
I’m sorry if anyone was offended by this.

I apologise for any offence caused. Maybe the many Forest fans that witnessed stuff that was ignored by the independent report are stubborn like Cloughie too?

Sunday Times, 9th January, sports Section, has an article about Brian Clough focusing on his formative years as a schoolboy. The penultimate paragraph ends with the following sentence:

"Even this week, two items involving him were in the news, both involving his (Brian's)relationship with Leeds and Don Revie, and yet another book about Clough rides high in the Amazon charts, the excellent Be Good, Love Brian."

Brilliant performnce, Craig.
I hope it has made you the fortune it desreves.
For anyone not yet having obtained a copy and read it, believe me: it is a compelling read.

I'm reading it at the moment and I concur, brilliant so far.

Got to the chapter about Hillsborough, going to give it a couple of days til I tackle that one.

Thanks so much for all the kind and positive words. It's been really uplifting to keep popping back and reading the updates.

Been a cracking couple of months on the field as well. Spence looks a real player and fingers crossed this is the season the good times return under Coops.

It's a bloody good job he's a good manager 'cos he's got a face a mother couldn't love!!!

Happy days.

How are sales Craig?

Steady but not spectacular, especially considering the publicity and reviews.

The publisher thinks it's gone very well but honestly I expected much higher numbers.

Still, when I first set out to self publish I'd have been ecstatic with 1,000 and it's done so much better than that so I've got to be happy.

Just wanted to take the time to say I'm absolutely delighted for all of you.
Long time coming but well worth the wait, top scenes at Wembley and Forest are back where Forest belong.
