In fairness I was coming to write something along the lines of. “Don’t let his goal yesterday deter from his complete wastefulness.” However you are dead right to point these figures out and that gives more knowledge to detractors like me. You can’t argue with those stats! I don’t care if he is wasteful if he carries on like that.
I think with players like him it's easier to look at when things don't come off and say he was wasteful, whereas so many players don't even get in those positions to waste chances. Same as when people were saying Wood missed goals against Luton.

If we had a different winger on who didn't get in the positions Elanga did we might say he was marked out the game, or West Ham doubled up on him to stop him creating (which they did but he coped with) same with Wood, another striker might not have got in those positions and instead we'd be saying how the striker had no service and Luton defended well

I don't think it's a coincidence that every game Elanga plays he gets chances to be wasteful, whereas at times last season we were hoping and preying that when we got that one chance a game we were clinical with it

I've not checked the stats but I feel he's the most effective attacking threat we've seen so far this season. He certainly leads to the most chances we've created. However the celebration yesterday was ridiculous and directly lead to the mentality of our play from the subsequent kick off. He's still very young though so theres plenty of time for him to learn. He's a key member of our team IMHO.

However if he didn’t have those stats you showed me I wouldn’t rate him. He is very wasteful but if he has 5 goal involvements already and can only get better it’s definitely exciting! I actually think CHO is a better footballer as well so we are well placed! We need to bolster our attacking options in general though. Because I think next season is going to be a very very difficult premier league

Absolutely Emmerson. I reckon if Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds or Soton go up there'll be no soft touch teams like there is this season

He also came very close to setting up Awoniyi when the two linked up brilliantly in what I thought was our best bit of play all game (although mainly due to that sexy Awoniyi first touch from the long ball!)

That was sexy we just need to back it up with some stoicism now.

Not sure about this "Elanga made us concede" idea. His celebration was very silly but was it so powerful it made our defence forget how to clear the ball?

No that’s not what people are saying I think. For myself it wasn’t aimed at just Elanga just he was the one celebrating the most. My point was it felt like the group gets too high sometimes and too low. Overly emotional I would say. Which may explain why we give away shite goals at very poor times. It’s not elangas fault the goal we conceded.

That's pure conjecture right now. Burnley were tripped to be strong this year and that hasn't panned out as people predicted. People on this forum told us Bournemouth had recruited exceptionally and would be strong. Let's wait and see how this season goes first before we worry about who comes up and may or may not weaken the division.

He’s 21. He got excited when he scored what he thought might be the winner. He took his shirt off and went a bit mad. And his decision making is still more mature than mine was at that age.

Absolutely.

I’d much rather see them look like they give a shit when they score, as opposed to just shrugging their shoulders and jogging back to the halfway line.

Wouldn't have an issue with this, if it was only a few minutes left on the clock, but we had over 30mins left to play and he was more at risk to get sent off with picking up a silly yellow for simply removing his shirt.

Brennan wouldn't have done this last season.

True, but Brennan spent the early part of last season largely anonymous until he started to really kick on later on.

I fully expect that Steve had a word with the lad about his celebration, and hopefully it will be a lesson learned.

Pulling off the shirt at the time was daft not just because of the time the goal was registered, the fact he is playing with 30 plus mins on a yellow, it doesn't take too much for a West Ham player to go down as if he was taken out with a Barrett M82 to get him sent off.

Not sure there would be much left if they simulated that!

I live in hope that we get to see him and CHO both playing at the same time before the end of this year for a few games, one on the left and one on the right.

Tony is f***ing mustard. Seen some people questioning why I'd rate him so highly on my team so far a few weeks ago but for me, he's becoming so good for us. We're gunna make some serious money on him in the next few years, I can feel it.

I think AE has had a great impact this season, much better than I was expecting. When he adds a bit more consistency to his game which you would expect given his age he’s got all the attributes to be a big player for us in the next few years.

That's what I would like to see lots of balls being whipped in from left and right it would be like Christmas for Taiwo or Wood
