In all honesty, I am not that fussy about this one as I’d rather try for players more likely to impact immediately and keep us up. At 18 it’s a big ask

Watch the Garibaldi Red podcast with the South american Media expert on.
He says the way it works for the European clubs is to by the prospcts in Brazil when they are 18.
You don't pay top dollar, and if they realise their potential you can make megabucks.

Completely understand that but I am not sure we have the luxury of the squad depth of cash to gamble that in January

I’d rather we chanced our arm on this pacey prospect than come through this window with no attacker (Chris Wood aside).

Understand where you are coming from but it the balance for me is the obligation to buy is for 18m and we have to pay if we go down and he doesn’t support us it may be too much of a gamble.

Flip side is he could have been a revelation and kept us up, but at that age and his current record I would be surprised

I am very indifferent.

At the end of the day it requires a small outlay to get him here for the rest of the season, but I wouldn't be bothered if we just waited to reassesed in the summer either.

Even if we sign him it would probably be a small impact he makes from the bench. But I would rather he be coming off the bench than Dennis at this stage.

That's where I am as well. Feels like more one for the future than now.

If it's a loan to buy then I believe we'd need to register him in the 25 for him to play this season. If it's a straight buy then we wouldn't.

Worth considering as it looks as though we'll have a few doing nothing for the rest of the season.

So no surprise, looks like a journo working for The Mail got it wrong.
Not sure either have to be wrong, If you read what is said both could be true.

The player may well have been allowed to have a medical as negotiations are ongoing.

Edit: a good use case for this would be the Michy deal in the summer. It wouldn’t have been incorrect to say we were signing him only for it to fall over at literally the last minute. Don’t think anyone could be called out for reporting on that.

Fair point - but at this point with 90 minutes left, the language used there doesn't sound like something is coming.

No, possibly not but we just don’t know. If you’ve been negotiating days before , which is evident we have, it could be last details e.g. not the fee but the structure of payments.

It always felt very late regardless though

Thought this was interesting - tweeted at 11:02 and all of a sudden Flamengo are interested and mention of an “intermediary”. Sounds a bit ‘you scratch my back…’

Could be wrong, of course.

Anyone think we will be back in for him this summer?

I can't see why we wouldn't be, we tried hard in January and since then we've become a Brazilian football club.
