I got five on it. Although if he gets locked up it makes the jersey even cooler, so I'm torn.

30 years having a gambling habit, if friends help him out do you think he will repay them, or will he just think that was a close shave and carry on gambling regardless?

Modern society. Get yourself in bother then ask others to help you out. Don't do it in the first place, Brian.

Being a sort of iconic sportsman is no excuse for being a plonker.

He's hardly kept the problem hidden.

My wife worked with his wife when he was here, he used to lose thousands on the horses and at the casino and everybody knew about it. Cloughie knew about it and made sure some of his wages went straight to his wife so that he couldn't blow it all.

Spunking enough money to buy a house on a roulette table isn't some misfortune that just befalls you. It's a wilful, conscious act of stupidity.
You.re wrong there. Gambling addiction like any other does " just befall you". I smoke. I know I should,nt. Costs a fortune and fks my health up but i cant stop. Ask the alcoholic to stop drinking and the junkie to stop taking his fix no chance. There but for fortune go you and i means any of us could end up like Brian. Just be thankful you have'nt

No. Not by fortune go I. It's not fortune that I don't smoke, or gamble, or take heroin, or down a bottle of vodka a night. It's not like getting a brain tumour. They are all choices made by free will.
