Surprised at the surprise. It's just another dodgy Vrentzos dealing. Ship 'em in, move 'em on, take a cut. What they do in the side is pretty irrelevant unless their value changes drastically.

We need to pack it in or sooner or later we'll end up getting burned Derby stylee.

Works well if you make a profit though. We picked up Kapino for nothing, gave him a few matches, then sold him on for a profit.

Don't forget also this signing was made before SC arrived, if it was a player CH wanted, and SC doesn't or for some other reason it hasn't worked, then there's no point hanging on when someone wants them.

I guess another side of the moneyball kind of approach is exactly that, buying low risk players, in the event they will make money, and if they don't, it's not too hard to cut your losses on it.

This. Alf is going to do his nut but we will be taking plenty of shot on young players for not much money. Some will pan out, some won’t and will be moved on. But the one certainty is Ventroz will be taking his cut .

It doesn't if that absolutely minute profit comes back to bite us in the arse in a few years when some suit investigates all these dealings and there's some questionable stuff they dig up.

Nah, lets stop all this stuff now please. Mel Morris has plunged Derby into shitsville trying to outsmart the rules, I'd sooner we avoid even anything remotely like that.

Big difference between signing young players to genuinely train up, to operating how we have where we just recycled a ton of no hopers for a few dodgy quid every window.

Vrentzos was our Mel Morris waiting to happen. It's a good job folk like me have been so staunchly against him.

I don't know the extent of Vrentzos' role, or if he had one, but Chris Brass recommended this lad when the Maja deal broke down on the last day of the window.

I doubt they’ll have sanctioned this without another name lined up and more or less ready to come in so we’ll see

No he was not lol, we’ve been incredibly fiscally well run since the Greeks took over with some really key investment from Vangelis.

There is f*** all dodgy about this. We signed him from West Ham as we needed depth in the wing positions, we knew we had an easy out to Aris if needs be and having assessed the season the hierarchy want to invest in the squad to try a promotion push this season so he’s gone down the pecking order.

I thought he looked good when he played and obviously filled a gap for us otherwise he wouldn’t have had minutes.

Clear wages for Jed Wallace maybe? Strange to sign someone for 200k and let him go for free?

The Forest way, we can't sign a player from abroad without losing at least £200,000 plus wages! Shame though i thought he looked really good in his moment on the pitch!

I think we just missed out on our main targets, he was available for a small fee, so we took a chance.

Signings like this don't bother me, most of them won't work out, and most of them we'll have to take a transfer loss on, but we'll find a gem who's worth more than the combined transfer losses on those who fail.

Chema for example fits the mould. Shame we couldn't keep him but we brought him in on a nominal and sold him on for £1.5m - that's 7 Silva's even if we sell Silva for £0.

We had an urgent nedd and we bought him.
We do not now have an urgent need so we can give him away.
£200k in the scheme of thing is nothing to lose in a football transaction.
And who n ows, there may be hidden bits the deal which we will never see...

Buy cheap, sell high.

I can't see anything dodgy in this one and even the ones between us and Oly need to be above board, as the Watford etc. loopholes were closed/reduced.

Even though Murphy was in charge of recruitment when he signed. Don't let that get in the way of a boring rant though.

I suppose Vrentzos had absolutely no say in the good players we signed over the summer - just the ones that you don't like because they are foreign and once played in Greece.

Most of them were probably a team decision anyway, especially when DM was new and we still had CH (Manager, not head coach) and under a hand over.

As you say, Alf does seem to like saying the good signings were Dane's and the bad ones Vrentzos

He did sky one my Grandma would've scored at the end there but he does look a good player. Probably still a case of he leaves if/when we get someone in.

Incredibly effective yet again. In the brief cameos he's made he's showed he can be a real handful. Glaring miss aside, he's has caused havoc and has hit the post twice in a limited number of minutes.

Are we trolling him? Twice he's said this and twice he's played.
