I know nothing about his wealth etc.. but why would a reasonably successful businessman who doesn’t have huge wealth, get involved in throwing money away on a football team? It’s lunacy.

Is there any truth in the rumours about Paragon?

The financial wizzkids on the Pie forum reckon that they made 9 million profit last year which after tax dodges is more than enough to support an ailing bottom league club.

Many business owners‘ wealth is actually tied to the businesses they own. Just because a business is „worth £10m“, it doesn’t mean the director or owner has £10m cash in the bank.

It’s common for them to use the value of the equity in a business as collateral for a loan to buy a football club, then load the loan debt back onto the balance sheet - that’s what the Glazers did with Man. United.

Maybe Hardy borrowed against his stake in Paragon, and if that’s gone tits-up, there’s his loan-guarantee down the swannee, so maybe the Banks are worried.
