I'm comfortable and optimistic with this signing. The lad has got pace for days and really offers us that which we've lacked out wide since Antonio or Burke. The French connection here should help him and I'm sure Sabri would have consulted his contacts at Rennes to give him background on attitude and etc.

Cowley is a prick and the way they have been as a side this season with their antics means I won't be taking their opinions on player attitude.

Correct on Cowley, I wouldn't want to play for him , The blokes a knob .

Diakhaby signed for Monaco from Rennes in Aug 2017. Lamouchi joined Rennes Nov 2017.

Lamouchi today, after the match: “I know the player, he is a great one, but he is not our player,”

He clearly knows him and even if they weren't there at the same time as each other. Lamouchi is obviously keen on the player and it wouldn't surprise me if it's one he recommended himself.

You are right we need someone to come in and contribute straight away, but it's at odds with your insistence that we only sign unproven players for 2-4 million from either Scotland, or League One. Or splash out an even bigger sum on Oliver Burke who has pretty much failed everywhere.

I'd much rather we spent good money on proven players who can come in straight away and do a job, but I'll give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Then moan when he flops.

We don't really have time to coach it for this season though do we?

Not saying that his raw pace couldn't help us, it definitely could (bad attitude which 3 managers couldn't curb allowing). But we certainly don't have much time to coach him. He needs to come here & contribute from a very early stage. Or at least someone does.

No you're right I was more thinking about if we do have an option on him. That's something for the long term.

The most important thing to me in the short term is it adds someone else teams will be worried about, we know pace terrifies teams even if his end product isn't the best and it could ease some of the attention Lolley gets, which I don't think happens too often with Adomah or Ameobi on the pitch.

Yeah, was just pointing out he wasn't actually at Rennes with him.

As Notch eludes to, he prob had contacts there who he trusted to give an opinion on him. From Sab's ability to get the best from players this year it really wouldn't surprise me to see him do the same here & I hope he does. Even if he doesn't have the ability to cross, pass etc. Lamouchi is Davies-esq in that he knows how to play to players strengths & negate their weaknesses in this system.

But like you say, we'll see. I am still hoping we've another, more proven winger in our sights, and this kid is a longer term "project" :)sick: ) who we can nab on the cheap season end, and cultivate quality from. But lets see how it evolves. Raw pace alone may be enough to see us over the line.

Huddersfield Town fan in peace.

Diakhaby wasn't our record signing. That's Terence Kongolo at £17.6M (who has just gone to Fulham on loan).

Good points:
He's fast. Very, very fast.
He can dribble past players as though they're not there.
Took a free kick that he nearly scored with once.

Bad points:
Cannot shoot,
Cannot cross,
Cannot pass to a player on his own team.
But most of all, his attitude stinks.

It's true that Cowley is the only manager to have openly frozen Diakhaby out, but this is the 3rd manager he's shown a shitty attitude with at HTFC. If this was simply a matter of a top player thinking he's too good to play at the bottom end of the Championship (which seems to be the case with Kongolo) that's one thing, but he didn't give a crap in the Premier League either.

If you can get him to work on his passing, shooting, crossing and awareness, but most of all instill a sense of professional pride in him then you may have a really good player on your hands. You'll struggle to find a town fan who'd miss him.

Still, he's better than Isaac Mbenza.

Gulp:LOL:

Anyway thanks for the info. We have to trust sabri. Hopefully it works out for us.

Yeah, I’d suspect his pace will be used towards the end of games. Rotating between lolley, Adomah, Ameobi and this lad should be pretty handy.

I really do hope we will add some genuine proven quality at this level. It would hopefully add just those extra points we need and help us compete in a games against the sort of teams who seem to swamp us.

This!

Any player with genuine pace, disregarding the quality of the end product, gives the defending team a difficult choice. Forest don’t have that absolute team-speed anywhere, yet.

This lad looks to have it in buckets.

Well, if he does come and his attitude isn’t right he won’t last 5 minutes under Lamouchi, as he is a manager who is all about working for the team. If he lets his ability do the talking, gets his attitude right he would thrive here.

When Sabri said ‘I need the a-team on the wing’ he wasn’t quite expecting Adomah, Ameobi, Adama and Alex (Mighten)

They also told us Hefele was good, and he's been absolutely shite for us. Some players are just more suited to certain clubs or styles of play than others.

So, you're not fans of Danny Cowley then?

TBF, I hope he does well for you. At least well enough for somebody to take him of our hands anyway.

Joe Lolley is a strange one. Seemed to be on the verge of coming good before breaking down with injury, and never really got going. Hef on the other hand was superb. Srtange how some players do well at one place & look like dogdirt at the next.

Anyway - good luck for the season.

TBF I think they said he was a cult hero and did well in one season but should do a job (if I remember rightly) it wasn't a ringing endorsement.

Wednesdays slating of Antonio was funny though.

If this were a summer signing, it would make some sense -- plenty of time for Sabri to work with the lad and get him sorted out. But we're in a promotion war and we need reinforcements right now.
Do we really need a player who seems, to put it mildly, problematic? I hope it works out, but if this guy is the answer we may be asking the wrong question.

If folk aren't bothered about attitude, Marcus Maddison would be a more sensible gamble if we're buying not loaning.

Cheaper, has everything this kid as + goals. Prob get Mads for 1-2m, this lad cost Udders a rumoured 8-9m in only 2018.

Piss funny how Maddisons "bad eggness" was unforgivable, yet no one other than me has mentioned it about this lad. Maddison hasn't been frozen out their squad, this lad has been frozen out of Udders by Cowley.

Cowley is a non-league clogger. Who gives a f*** what he thinks?

Adama probably committed the cardinal sin of actually trying to play football instead of lying on the floor for 80 minutes a game.

And Maddison is an arsehole, everyone in football knows it which is why nobody but Sunderland will touch him.

I've not seen much of Diakhaby but I'm not sure where the Maddison comparison comes from. They're both left-footed, that's about it.

I often wonder how attitude is judged when we only really see a player for 90 or so minutes once a week. Of course attitude issues exist, but I also wonder, for the supporter, who doesn’t have any interaction with the person 99% of the time, whether it’s just a perception? And a perception that is reinforced (with confirmation bias) without much evidence?

I mean, had this guy twatted his car pissed around a lamp post at all in his life? Or has he just been dropped by an ex Lincoln manager ?

It's like people assuming Grabban was a bad egg based on a 2 minute clip of him in a documentary about a shit team, the fact he chews gum and the fact Kenny Burns called him lazy every week.

reading the news around, it looks this will be your first signing. ticks a lot of boxes. SL knows him and wants him, he can be on a loan initially with an option to buy in the summer, he has pace, he is young and has a good pedigree coming from a well proven french development path.

moreover, this shows there is close cooperation with SL and support by the club, which is a positive at this point especially having in mind SL's contract extension

This lad may have pace, but unless he's Antonio quality, he'll struggle to do it on his own. To that end, if he has the ability to beat the man in front of him & put a decent ball in, he's our man.

The collective counter is so f***ing slow. He'll shouldnt expect any balls in behind. So beat the man & find a way to get a cross in. How many times yesterday did we f***ing dwell on the ball out wide only to cross the ball straight at the opposition full back.

Every quick break yesterday was curtailed as Lutons defenders and midfielders were quicker than our forwards and mids.

A bit of blace just helps with options, keeping their defenders from pushing up. Hopefully the reports of attitude and not being able to pass or cross are overstated. As it's a loan I'm not bothered, he's got to show his worth.
