Ah I see. It's great to see such an active youth setup. How much and where are the games played?

Mainly the Academy, but some at the CG, there's one at the CG soon I think, might be next week.

Not sure on cost, think it might be £3.

My baby sister is getting to the age where I want to start weaning her into forest. She's living with Leicester fans at the minute so I'm going to have to act quickly! Next time I'm home I'll see if I can take her to one.

Give it a go mate!

My first ever Forest game was vs Tranmere reserves, we lost 4-1 and it didn't put me off one bit!

Went to watch the youth team at the academy today against Charlton, we had an excellent 3-0 win against a Charlton side that one of their entourage described pre match as the best group he has ever seen.
Harty was there as a spectator, how is he not working in football?

Ah okay, I wasn't aware.

Would love us to find a role for him within our youth setup. Don't know how likely that would be though.

I wouldn't swear to it but he was stood on the bank with the hoi polloi!
I would love to see him back here, I'm not sure that we have a suitably senior position though.

Re: U-21/U-19 Development Thread

We were decent today. What I've been told is we've played better but our game management hasn't been to smart this season. Charlton always tough so good to get a 3-0 victory.

A number of players missed out for various reasons. Burns & Worthington injured, McDonagh with Eire u17s, new signings Erlandsson & Fisker not permitted to play yet & a few u-21 call-ups I will get to now now.

Team

Dearle
Diallo Worrall Arrowsmith Iacovitti
Otim Yates Gamblen
Adams Walton Thomas

Austin replaced Walton on 55
U16 Hayes replaced Adams on 86

Tight affair with both sides cancelling each other out first half. Adams & Thomas were our major threats out wide and the introduction of Austin seemed to lift the team and he had the same effect off the bench at Palace last week after a disappointing start to the season from him. Austin played a through ball for the ever willing runner Thomas to slot past the keeper and open the scoring. Second came from Boston boy Adams who got behind the defence and picked out 16 year-old Derby boy Gamblen with a well timed run and drove into the net. No surprise from Gamblen who has always had a knack scoring goals and often promoted above his age group and debuted for the u18s when 14 and scored too. Final goal rounded off Luke Thomas' best u18 performance with his 2nd goal of the game after picking up the ball from deep, driving forward and hitting the top corner from about 15-20 yards. Luke has more to give, just needs to realise how much ability he has.

Back on to the players missing that I mentioned above. Besides Burke & Walker, left-back Kelly is in the u21 squad for Monday and has played at that level before but excitingly 16 year-old left-footed defensive midfielder Adam Crookes has got his 1st u21 call up.

Re: U-21/U-19 Development Thread

Something that no doubt is a problem and will become a bigger problem with Leicester & Derby being Category One academies is them looking to get Nottingham talent. Gary Brazil said as much, they in Nottingham looking and while we've done well ourselves from outside of Notts/Nottingham moving forwards we need to make sure we keep the best Notts/Nottingham talent.

Just looking at Derby's young players that have come through their own academy.

Will Hughes (Repton) & Mason Bennett (Shirebrook) both are from Derbyshire but I'm sure most know Hughes's history with us. Of similar age there is Josh Lelan (Derbys) & Rhys Sharpe (Notts)

Starting from u19s -

u19s

CB: Farrend Rawson - Notts
CM: Jamie Hanson - Staffordshire
CF: Kwame Thomas - Notts

u18s

GK: Erik Behrens - Germany

RB: Sam Dryden - Notts (released by Forest)
CB: Jorna Moulton - Derbys
CB/LB: Tom Rigby - Melton Mowbray, Leics
LB: Max Lowe - South Normanton, Derbys

CM: Callum Guy - Notts
CM: Charles Vernam - Scunthorpe, Lincs
CM: Mo Adams - Notts (released by Forest)

CF: Offrande Zanzala - Notts

u17s

GK: Josh Barnes - Tamworth

RB: Kyron Stabana - Leics
CB: Alex Cover - Notts
LB: Callum McDonald - Notts

MF: Jared Bird - Notts
MF: Ethan Wassall - Derbys
MF: James Carvell -

WF: Kellan Gordon - Staffordshire
CF: Tom Mellors - Notts (released by Forest)
WF: Alex Babos - Notts

As you can see their current squad and a couple players u19s are dominated by Notts boys and they've either scouted them from the start ( seem to have connection with the Bluecoat school) or picked up our released players. It is a minor concern but got to hope we can address it although I'm sure we're happy with the same age groups these players are in. It is a known fact that the majority of our schoolboy groups bar 1,2,3 in each in group needs a bit of work. Lets hope Brazil, MacDonald & Gilligan and scouts keep to their word of making sure we are competing locally, nationally and internationally going forwards.

Like the mixture in that team (giving 4 u18s a starting berth too). Would have been good to have Blake in there and find this Todorov a weird one, if he still hasn't signed, would have preferred our own player to be used.

Rees captaining. Interesting in that Fenton & Osborn captained last season & with Blake injured they didn't give the captaincy to Fenton.

A lot of people mentioning loans and Guedioura in particular, but don't discount Jorge Grant who could make an appearance at Spurs tomorrow, and could actually start.

One to watch, if he grabs his chance in the coming weeks then loans won't be needed.

How has Burns done since he's arrived?

Been injured so hasn't really had the opportunity to get going. Got tough competition with crookes, gamblen and yates too.

On a side note, we had to sign our u14 forward up on a scholar as he was being monitored by other clubs. Originally from Holland.

Re: U-21/U-19 Development Thread

Obviously you don't want to be judging too soon but I only think the 2 GK's Evtimov and Smith who are on loan and Grant [big question mark] have any chance of making it with us from the u21s. We saw the new younger wave involved last night in Burke and Walker. Just got to feel that for players like Rees and Blake they will do better if they found regular senior football next season unless and amazing run of form this season. On Fenton and Riera, I just think they are of similar age too Louis Laing who no doubt about it, is more of package than both of them as a centre-half.

So the new wave will be interesting to watch and follow. If there are no final hiccups with the Scandinavian deals you would imagine the FA Youth Cup starting team to me would be [obviously form and injury permitting there could be 1 or 2 changes]:

Tim Erlandsson - 1997

Ismael Diallo - 1998
Joe Worrall (c) - 1997
Frederik Fisker - 1998
Jack Kelly - 1996

Ryan Yates (vc) - 1997
Adam Crookes - 1997
Tom Gamblen - 1998

Oliver Burke - 1997
Tyler Walker - 1996
Liam Adams - 1998

What about Iacovitti?

Re: U-21/U-19 Development Thread

What about Iacovitti?

Probably going to have to miss out. Arrowsmith has jumped ahead of him at centre-back recently. Fisker has signed a 3 year deal, there is no doubt he will be getting into the team when he is available and ready.

They may even play Worrall right-back and play Arrowsmith cb with Fisker but I think that is unfair to Worrall who isn't a rb. They could play the older left-footed Worthington at rb over Diallo and there is a big chance of that happening.

Burns in midfield will push Gamblen possibly but I would pick that as my '3' in mf. Gamblen has a knack of scoring goals.

The older Thomas and Austin probably pushing Adams but he is full of skills and endeavor, no doubt I would choose him in the front 3 with the 2 recent 1st teamers.
