Re: U-21/U-19 Development Thread

Pretty sure Jack Blake would have been captain as he has been this season.

How did he go yesterday ? Think he would have worn the number 4.

Don't want to contradict Anatoli but I thought Jack did the preliminaries and led the line for the handshakes?
Was indeed the 4 and sat in the McGovern role allowing George the glory! Did it well enough and he likes a scrap, in the old fashioned sense! The first two Millwall goals were down to cross field diagonals over the midfield for aforementioned Fred to run onto. The third was from 20 yards centrally through crowded box with DDV going to his left before trying to shift weight back to right and only managing to get weak hand to it.

The highlights are on ForestPlayer. Looks like it could have been 6-6 at least. Some decent attacking play from both sides. Lars looked like he did a very decent job of holding up the ball and bringing others into play. I know there were several 1st team players in the team, but that looked so much better than any of the highlights last season.

Centre-half

Denmark u16 (talk he is set to get a call-up for the u19s)
Set to sign 2 year deal according to Danish press.

A Forest supporter on twitter does some work for the FA but randomly watched Denmark u16s v Portugal u16s & was very impressed. Stand out player in the game.

only 90mins but performance stood out. People I was watching with highlighted him too, including Gareth Southgate

Why would we take a player on loan in the under 21 team just to then have to give them back?

Cheers bud.

JJ does consider himself an all-rounder. Good to see him getting back to his best.

de Vries does seem to struggle to go through a whole game with a complete performance. Great saves and then you walk away thinking he could have done better. Story of his Wolves career.

Only really Fenton, Blake, Burke, Gnahore & Walker have come up through our academy who got on the pitch yesterday. Grant joined for a half a season as an u18.

He is 17 & will be part of the u18 squad.

Think it is just a case of both parties not committing anything right now. See how the season goes & then see if he liked it here and if we liked him.

With first team games Sunday and midweek (7 in 19 upcoming) under 21's next Monday might be more representative of our genuine state at that level. Dex might still be included to build on return but first teamers should be otherwise occupied and we will get a better look at Durrant, Riera, Fenton, Walker etc without the heavyweights!

Exactly. I've got no problem with it being more of a reserve team when needs be because it benefits the whole club for getting minutes into Veldwijk, McLaughlin etc and Wilson, Vaughan and Dex are getting back to full fitness. Plus our best young players get to play with them.

A few years ago this was the reserve team v Derby at Ilson that we won, full of our own academy talent. Pity it wasn't maximised in the 3 years afterwards but still a decent outcome.

On a sidenote, good to see Lascelles starting for England U21's today.

Liam Moore and Will Hughes there too, good for the area.

Google Translation about Fisher.

Viborg FF and English Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal that sends 16-year-old Frederick Fisher to English football.

Viborg FF has sold the 16-year-old defender Frederik Fisher to the English tradition club Nottingham Forest, where he has signed a three year contract.

Despite Frederik Fisker's only 16 years, he has this season been a regular on the team sheet for FK Viborg U19, which has seen better opportunities to match the talented middle stops. Now the challenge for defenseman thus even greater, as Fishermen should play in English football:

I've had a very good time in FK Viborg, where I have learned a lot. I've had some talented coaches, and I think in particular that I during the last year have grown a lot. It has been exciting to be part of the club, and I now look forward to some new challenges, says the young defense.

The official trade between the clubs went through before transfervinduets closure. The agreement is subject to the condition that Nottingham Forest have approved Fisker U18 player licensed by FIFA. There is still awaited in this paper path, and its treatment can take up to eight weeks.

Also the new goalkeeper is just a loan?

Re: U-21/U-19 Development Thread

They are the two who have moved up into the next category early. Trying to think of an analogy for you Freshmen/Sophomore/Junior/Senior? These two are Sophomores shooting for the Juniors??! No guarantee they won't "flunk" out but could go on to be MVP's!/Most likely To's!
Sweden play the season March-Nov. it gets as cold as Green Bay up there in winter! So the 'keeper is on like a Summer Camp!
Hope that helps.

Agree with this, and John Thompson is another one who came through and did well for a bit.

Just in regards to the game yesterday, Riera, Laing, Grant and Veldwijk were all bought in by Pearce.

Pearce has integrated the Academy again, and placed an emphasis and importance on it like no other manager in recent years really.

Calderwood was very into the academy, but at times it felt like he was chucking in bodies just to fill gaps in the squad that he did not have the money to fill otherwise.

Since Pearce has come in, it feels like there has been a real shift to create a true link between it and the first team, which you can tell from the way more people are actually paying attention to it.

Clearly, Pearce is not responsible for what the Academy has done over the last 10 years, and should not be credited as such, but he has made it feel far more important than it seemed to be under any previous manager from the last 2 decades.

Just so you know, Grant has been at the club since he was 17, signing in 2012, and Riera was signed by the Academy staff with approval from Pearce.

Laing was brought in by Eastick on his recommendation, and Veldwijk was scouted previous.

Pearce is going to be great for the academy, but make sure credit is given where it's due rather than assuming.

For Jontron.....

Before extremely early Sunday morning main event football (for you) comes the horses doofers as coach Lester takes his U18 Saplings (0-1-2) on the road south to Croydon to take on the Crystal Palace Eaglets (1-1-1) for a high noon kick off (BST).
Star offensive men Walker and Burke are likely to be missing from the roster, resting up for Mondays U21 match up v Birmingham (W Midlands not Alabama) back on home field.
Converting has proven difficult so far this regular season and new names may be drafted in. One's to watch out for could be Alex Lacovitti and Elvis (Ugandan not Memphis Tennessee) Otim.
Sadly the Eaglets shut out visiting fans at this venue so no tail gate parties before or after. Will update you with team and score line after these messages, or as they come in.

This thread should be sticky. Sounds like Louis Laing had a good game for Notts yesterday.

Louis Lang had a great game. We owe Forest for letting us bring him in. The best tribute is that we didn't miss Haydn Mullins.

A clean sheet is a good start for him.
