Aaron Ramsey [BUPA]

This is the sort of deal that would only work for me if:

a) he was willing to play on a comparative salary to guys like Neco, Niakhate, Awoniyi, Johnson etc.
b) he isn’t seen as an alternative to a player like Garner, but rather just an additional opportunity for the squad

At this point who knows what you can get out of Ramsey (consistently at least). He has apparently been given £4m to void his contract, so may be willing to play on cheap to get ready for WC. At which point, why not for me?

Before the WC we have 18 games in 4 months.

To play for Wales he probably just needs to be fit and not necessarily on form. If he's not injured, Wales will take him to Qatar.

He'd be such a big gamble in a crucial part of our season.

This is part of the difference with JL. He need to be fit and on form to feature in Southgate's squad.

Oh, no. Far too late, his time has gone. He's looking for one last swan song in December then it's curtains.

Just when we're wanting talented cygnets.

I seem to recall a less than productive loan spell from Arsenal several years ago.
Personally, I think he is too old, to expensive and his time as a Premiership player is over.

There's no actual link with us and Ramsey, is there?

Way too high a wage and way too biscuit a human. No thanks.

As I remarked earlier in the thread, my recollection is the opposite.

He was a whole second ahead of everyone we had on the books at that point.
He looked what he was, an international class player from a top-six club playing in the second tier to get some fitness.

And his class told. He was superb at times, running the midfield in the famous 5-2 demolition of the sheep.

He was injured a bit when he was here on loan, but looked very good when he played. I remember him being pretty great in that game where we demolished Derby 5-2.

He’s more than proved himself at this level but the issue is his fitness. For that reason I’d avoid as not only is he prone to injury but it would cost a fortune for the privilege.

Pretty sure I remember hearing that he wasn't training between welsh games and was purely in physio, focusing on getting him as ready as possible. Still looked pretty good in those games. I just don't think it fits with club football and our current plan.

Remember the South American full back (name escapes me) who was "going to the World Cup"?
He chickened out of tackles and really played like a softee so as not to risk injury.
Let Forest down he did.
We don't want a repeat.
I just hope Johnno and Neco don't start playing to protect themselves for the WC

6 month contract a possibility? Still a no from me, I'm afraid. Top player in his day, but not likely to do what we would need him to do. Wish him all the best.

Though if Stevie Cooper thinks it worth it? Surely wouldn't be about a few extra shirt sales in Wales ...

If we sign him, it'll be because the recruitment team think he's up to it.
You know the same one that recruited the players that got us promoted.

Obviously class and if he brings his Wales performances to the CG then I'm up for it.
