Aaron Ramsey [BUPA]

Don't look at Linguard's appearances by season then...

Lingard 37 games a season average
Ramsey 33 games a season average

Not sure that's bad for either of them when Prem seasons are 38 games, both had loans early in their careers and Lingard got bombed out the last couple of seasons.

Both have played international games as well. Lingard 32 caps, Ramsey 75 caps.

Lingard has one season in his career with 30+ league games. Mix of injuries and not being picked. I was just trying to say it's not the only yardstick when deciding to sign a player.

Why do only league games count? They only play 38 in the PL anyway.

2015/16 - 40 (25/38)
2016/17 - 42 (25/38)
2017/18 - 48 (33/38)
2018/10 - 36 (27/38)
2019/20 - 40 (22/38)
2020/21 - 19 (16/38)
2021/22 - 22 (16/38)

In the last two seasons he was bombed out by the utterly clueless Solksjaer. Sent on loan to West Ham, then told he would get game tim the following season as they put a massive price tag on his head, then was on the bench constantly.

To add to that...

Europa League 2016/17 - 10 appearances
EFL Cup 2016/17 - 4 appearances, scored in the final
FA Cup 2015/16 - 7 appearances, came on as sub in the final and scored the winner in extra time

It was someone else's metric not mine that I was responding to, you've jumped in at the tail end. I've no issue at all with regard to Linguard's stats, I was just trying to say that looking at appearances in isolation doesn't tell the full picture. I also explained why Linguard had only broken 30 games once in a decade.

He's also got a leg break on page 3, but I'm sure you get the point. 🤣

Great player on his day but I can't see him doing well in our team with our style of play.

We do however need 2 more quality CMs, a 10 and forward.

Not been let down so far this window and we do have 7 loans we could potentially use too so I'm very optimistic.

We could possibly get an Aaron Ramsey on two legs this time instead of one. It is a no brainer for me to get him in on a short term deal.

Ramsey of 2-3 years ago would be an awesome signing. Now I'm not so sure. He's probably still got the odd quality performance in him, but I doubt he can do it on a consistent basis (even when fit). He hardly tore it up for Rangers. Then again, when we had him on loan years ago he was finding his fitness and you could see he was a bit too good for our players, so he was expecting runs that our players never saw so didn't really fit that team. If anyone could a get an encore from him, it'd be Stevie Cooper.

"good player if we can keep him fit".

We outgrew that shit about 3 years ago. A hard no from me.
With that kind of attitude, we'll be straight back down. Look at the BIG picture Baldi - if we can sign a top star on short term deals to solidify our Premiership future, then lets do it. You sound like a "Keep the money in the bank" Norwich fan - look where that got them..... embarrassing losses week after week, and straight back down

It's no from me, too.

I'm open to gambling on the likes of JL, where its about can you get a string of winning performances out him that have been shown to be there recently.

Gambling on trying to keep a frequently injured player out of the treatment room AND trying to get performances out that havent been on show for a few seasons.

Very different kind of risks, very different types of gamble.

He wouldn't help to solidify anything as he'd be stuck in the physio's room as per usual.

Really don't get this one.

Can't see this happening on several levels. It'd be a real gamble on his fitness

Currently on £400k a week and not been in great form by all accounts.
I’m not seeing this as a starter unless he’s realistic on wages.
