European Super League

Many of whom, will have been priced out of the modern game.

An old boy I work with has been going to Chelsea since he was a lad and now struggles to get to a game every few years never mind on a regular basis due to pricing, of course part of that is travel expenses etc. It’s crazy how everyone wants their team to be one of the elite but then you get priced out so the club can sell shirts etc in Asia and fill the ground with rich plastics

I really think it will go tits up in the long run. The English domestic league has some great clubs in it and take a handful of so called ‘super clubs’ out and it could be incredibly competitive. I think a lot of the so called super clubs will regret it if they were to turn their backs on it.

I'd love them to f*** off, we'd soon see a more open competition in England as the money would reduce and parachute payments woukd be phased out requiring players to accept relegation clauses in their contracts or go and work elsewhere. It would improve football for the fans of all the other clubs without doubt.
f*** OFF. :)

This.

Couldn't give a toss about the elite clubs, I'd gladly jettison them if it meant a more open competition here and less money involved. Perhaps a new European competition for the teams that are not in the European Super League too. Bring it on I say.

There ought to be a public vote on it.One of the questions on the ballot paper could be.Do you want them to f*** off and never come back under any circumstances.Put me down for that one.

The FA should get the club's to sign exclusivity agreements before the end of the season with massive penalties if they break away and if they don't sign up before the end of the season they should be expelled the end of the season.

And why not make it impossible for players who play in the super league to return to national league football (EFL etc.) for x seasons after leaving the super league.

Of course the real test would be getting fans of national league clubs to shun channels which carry the Super League. If they want to stand alone make them earn money for themselves and not have it bundled.

I genuinely don’t want to watch it anyway. I used to watch champions league games when Forest weren’t playing but then it became few and far between but I’d follow the progress. Since it went off sky and itv it has dropped off tge earth as far as I’m concerned. I don’t even know who is in it apart from olympiacos and Milan due to this forum. I certainly pay zero attention to it until the quarter stage but I still wouldn’t buy bt to watch it.

f*** off and never let them back. The true fans can do what numerous clubs have before, reform and start again.

Perhaps but There's the obvious language problem of moving to Manchester. Who knows what that babbling sound they make is all about.

Don’t worry, I’ve worked there, you just need to buy a parka, walk like you’ve shit yourself and wave your arms about like a gibbon, and you’ll fit right in.

Tried to get the opinions of a Chelsea season ticket holder about this at a game yesterday. He travels to Europe to watch Chelsea, and wondered how he felt about the prospect of having to fly Easyjet for every away game

But it was a challenge to contribute without sounding anti Chelsea. And seeing as though he celebrated Forest's goals against Brum earlier in the season in solidarity, I felt like bit of a dick. So we had another pint and talked about what a great player Ruud Gullit was.

The biggest problem is no relegation. The league will end up having so many boring games. The only reason for doing this is to make the chairman more money. It is funny that that of the English clubs wanting to breakaway that 3 are owned by yanks. This is such a Yankee idea.

Kerry Dixon's finest hour. Upstaged by the freakish sight of West Germany missing a penalty, and Peter Shilton, of all people, being the man to save it...

I don't think that the FA could ban any player or manager who defects to the new super-league.
Some law relating to restraint of trade would kick in and the FA would have to capitulate.
Having spoken to several ostrich locally I am, like Sir Robert Mark and his advert for a well known tyre brand, convinced that the European Super League will never, ever come into being.

It was like that in rugby league when they got rid of relegation. Basically teams not in contention at the top just gave up for the second half of the season. Contrast that to football and you get some right odd results with teams fighting for their life.
