Wouldn't surprise me if Frank went after we are relegated. He will have the finger pointed squarely in his direction, and sad to say, rightly so.

Yup, although Cotterill's appointment still reaks of "cheapest option first" Marthur logic to me so we'll see. Frank's only deffinate downfall so far is not sacking Cotts.

It was a well known fact that Doughty and Arthur knew nothing about how to run a football club properly.

Thats more speculative than "a well known fact"

Yhe way I read it is basically we are just going to be sold off by Doughty's estate to the highest bidder. Doughty's estate are just going to cut their losses and try and get as close to the 70m owed to Doughty as possible and then have no more involvement.

I dont think it comes accross quite as coldly as that. Id hope they wouldnt just sell the club to anyone

Say we are bought by Bill Gates, Apple, the richest man in the world, etc, etc with FFP coming in how would it make much difference as they could only put so much in.

Unless they are allowed to take a hit now.... pay off and release the useless high earners like Derbyshire, Greening, Miller, McGoldrick and bring in some decent players for next season

I think unfortunately that will be the case. Doughtys family won't want this huge burden over their shoulders anymore. Can just hope it's someone decent not just looking to make money.

That iPhone advert must only help us be sold. Is there a story to why they picked Forest? Assuming we're not going to become part of the Apple family.

Bill Gates or Apple? Bill gates WAS Microsoft but is now retired & Apples' CEO was Steve Job's but he's carked it.
Neither would waste money on the likes of us.

NFFC Chief Executive, Mark Arthur, commented: "We are very pleased to announce that the Club will have the financial support of Nigel Doughty's estate through to next season while we are seeking a new owner."

First off, leaving a side any hatred of MArthur, I would just like to say that because we are "being financed through to next season", doesnt mean that we will cease to exist if new owners are not found between now and then. It simply means that the shortfall ie the incoming not matching the out going, will not be covered after then - therefore giving Frank Clark and Mark Arthur the summer to balance the books with sales and contract deals that will see NFFC run at sub 100% of its turnover ... This for me is essential whoever is our future owner!

The main reason behind this assumption is beacuse before the start of August a club has to in writing display that they are capable of being able to complete a season to the football league. If this was to happen then Doughtys family would have used this deadline? as failure to do so would result in the football club not being able to start the season.

As regards to potential owners, you can speculate & draw up pointless rumours as if it was a transfer window as much as you like, however I can say now that it is pointless, the only belief that there is anyone out there interested in taking over our club should be drawn from any public commitment or direct quotes of said person (or group).

This person (or group) does not need to be millionaire(s) or even billionaire(s), they do not need to be famous or well know, as spending money doesnt get you everywhere (£75m over the last 10 years surely proves that to you all?) they need to be someone that will ensure that we spend within our means and that we will have a long prosperous future by utlising assets (the training ground & academy) introduced by Nigel Doughty.

People will moan and complain about having to face more years of either Championship or League 1 football, as if it is we have a devine right to be more succesful, well we dont, we dont even have a devine right to exist! This should be a stage where we all take reality checks, we have been out of the top flight for over a decade and failure to support (in any positive way) the club now will only see this figure rapidly extend to two decades so can we all please get behind this football club, with the first aim of staying in this division come the end of april and the second aim of allowing a new owner the time to build their own football club. - The alternatives are of course to bury your heads as far into the sand, demand impeccable football and demand that we travel back to the mid nighties when we were last succesful! But you will be the ones who will have to put up with more oasis/blur/pulp songs!

Fantastic why cant we all think like this its the way its going to be with fair play about.
We make 15 mill a lets just use our youth and the 15 mil thats plenty.
Darlow lascelles freeman maloney and gunter there is a futer solid back 5 there for peanuts compared to what we must be paying now.............

The finance that you are talking about would be for if we were to continue the way we were going. It was a well known fact that Doughty and Arthur knew nothing about how to run a football club properly.

Say if the club was bought for £25million, they'd need £5million to sort us out for a good mid-table battle next season and a lot of money could be recovered from player sales.

We don't need billionaires, we just need someone who knows what they are doing! From then on, you could have a transfer budget of £2million a season so long as the current players are working well together and we have a good academy turnout.

Get rid of Miller, Derbyshire, Boateng and McGoldrick who have contributed nothing to the cause this season, and that'll save you £2million in wages, and might bring in £2million from selling them.

The only person who would do that is someone who is a fan of NFFC, in the same line as say Nigel Doughty.

If you could be owner of your local under 16's team but it cost you 30,000 pounds a year out of your pocket, would you do it ?

No, of course not. And why do you think anyone wants to buy a loss making club unless they can see a way of making money out of it - or they can use the club as some nice way to lauder money by raking up debts and doing dodgy transfer deals and extracting cash for debts overseas paid back by third parties - eg money laundering - which FFP is going to stop anyway now.

The Estate is exposed to the tune of £70m...
If the only bidder that came along was not desirable from the NFFC perspective, but would settle most of Estates debt can you honestly see them turning the bid down?
There are different moralities when big money is concerned...

So no-one's ever bought a football club to raise their own or their business profile?

It just makes me angry, and sad, and despair for the future of mankind actually.

f***ing Hell, do you not watch the news or leave your house?

If only the worse thing that happened was people who share an interest/passion disscussed the potential result of a major announcement without knowing the full facts, what a wonderful world it would be.

Chill.:)

We dont know though. Doughty said he wouldnt sell the club to anyone who didnt have the clubs best intentions at heart.

We dont know what his family/estates feelings are on this- so i wouldnt just assume they'll take the first, biggest, or only offers.

For all we know they could be committed to making sure the club is taken care of properly.

We have no idea what thier priorities are.

My personal thoughts are id be amazed if his family chose to ignore all the work, effort, money, time and love he poured into the club- purely to just sack it off
