Perhaps you’re right. Just feel a little deflated if the report is true. Just want to hook one of these big fish knowing how much it could transform our team
Any big deal will happen at the end of the window, our persistence could easily end up paying off. There is no immediate pressure at the moment with the Sheff Utd win as we are probably on track where we expected to be.

Especially when some of our targets realise their 'big move' hasn't materialised - and that offer of playing for NFFC with good wages in the Prem becomes a lot more appealing

We probably aren't Fofana's first choice and him turning us down would be as expected.

O'Rourke and "Football Insider" wouldn't know though. They know the square root of f*** all.

Exactly, players like Sangare seem set to move regardless. It's about staying patient and not panicking, we will land one of them and when the first few come it makes it easier and easier to attract them going forward.

You need a bit of suffering and brinkmanship if you want quality over quantity.

We all do, but the problem is that we are fishing for bigger fish in the big pool and we only have a small bait compared to many others.

We may have to compromise through no fault of our own and fish in the next pool down, but that means progression is less and we'll still have the same problem when we throw our line into the big pond again.

We all want to see Forest step forward, but it isn't easy and other clubs not only want to step forward too but will trample over us to do it. We sometimes forget that in the heat of the moment.

Or, put another way, a lot of the responses to potential signings and the failure to land the big fish have been over reactions and unfair.

I like the approach.

Speak to numerous clubs, let them know we’re interested, offer them a deal and if they accept great. If not, move on.

There isn’t just one player that fits what we need, despite emotional attachments temporarily formed when we like said player.

The above posters are right. At the end of the window numerous enquires that have been reported (and not reported) will come to fruition as players realise that we are a decent option.

I think this HAS to be the right approach. The drawback it comes with is that only 1 in 10 of these will come off, because of the hot competition from other clubs offering CL. We just have to stick at it and hope it comes good. And I guess, have a plan B in place behind the scenes.

Happily, we only need 3 quality signings to really take the next step with the squad we have. If we needed 5/6 players then I would be very nervous

Barely scraping a win at home against an almost dead cert relegation favourite who have regressed since promotion isn't my idea of where we expected to be. Unless you are just taking about the points total at this stage. Pretty sure EM sees it that way too. That Wood goal was priceless in terms of Cooper's short term future.

With all the gelling of last season, we need to be seeing better performances by now. If the rumours of the money being offered on various players is true, that is encouraging, at least they are after a grade up in quality which will improve the team straight away.

You have no idea what way EM sees it mate, nobody does.

He's after trophies, suffice it to say last night's performance isn't something he'd be pleased with.

New goalie, Williams at LWB, no Aina, Felipe or Niakhate, Awoniyi and Johnson just coming back from injury. MGW having a few weeks off.

A lot has happened since last season.

I agree that defensively we look poor. Worrall nearly gifted them a goal and Williams is no Aina at LWB,

We look so much better going at teams, than we do playing as we did for most of yesterday and the first half against Arsenal.

I’m very happy we got the result and I don’t think EM will make rash decisions based on us getting 3 points.

Let’s see how we are after the international break imo.

To be fair, and if the rumour mill is to be believed, there are several plan Bs in place and they're all being explored. I can't think of position where we haven't been linked with a number of targets "above our station." (In quotes. Ambitious would perhaps better describe them.)

Fwiw, according to Smarterscout, we should also be looking at Joris Chotard (21yo playing for Montpellier, who I think I've signed in a previous FM game). No idea if Ross reads this forum, but I think he'd be a good shout. Not great in the air, but decent at ground duels and likes to pass forward.

Caught a half hour of Monacos game tonight and he was certainly playing as more of an 8 than a 6. Zakaria who they just signed had the game of his life, Fofana lost possession a couple of times but on each occasion he hounded the player who intercepted him and took the ball off him like he was a child.

I suspect this one has gone now.

As with Sangare, it was always a bit of a stretch.
