I wasn’t sure, but during one of our recent games it panned to someone in a big white puffer jacket (including hood). Based on his eyes only, it looked like Antonio, as you could see the same cheeky glint.

I’ve never been very good at those name the player games, but i’m at least 37% confident it was him.

I’m pretty sure that was Niakhate

Can't Play Left-Back
One of Cooper's babes from the U17s. Probably the most talented of the lot, but has lost his way with injuries and being played at wingback.

I remember seeing Hudson-Odoi play for the first time on his England debut. He looked electric. I thought this lad is going to be incredible. Seemed to have everything. Then his career has just sort of fizzled out. Maybe Stevie Cooper could work his magic on him, I don't know.

Da, molim!

Underrated by his country I think. Play him up top in a 4-2-3-1 and have the ball just stay there for once maybe.

He's probably so stupidly cheap even after the world cup that we'd think we are only getting one foot for the money and it turns out he's got 2 pretty good ones to the extent that he can also play deeper in midfield. Plus he can head like Giroud and he's a similarly chunky fkr.

*I created an account after probably a decade of lurking to say this because I'm 100% invested in a throwaway suggestion already.
Ahhhh a peeping tom presents himself. A throwaway suggestion is always a good way to chuck yourself in.

Welcome

None other than FC Bayern were seriously interested in signing him, before he somewhat fell off the radar, which kind of shows the regard in which he was held.

The Bavarians made a serious bid to sign him, according to Kicker (and the Bible of all things German Fußball is very rarely wrong, as it has impeccable sources).

Is there an actual link with Hudson-Odoi?

I'd snap their hand off if he's available. He's still very young and has bags of talent
No I just brought him up as looks like Chelsea are gearing to sell.

I mentioned him in the summer as well as he seems like a logical target for us.

Yeah just mentioning him.

If he didn't have something wrong with him he would either be playing at Chelsea or at a club like Bayern like Strummer said.

These are the sorts of players we have to identify in our position now as we won't get the full package.

I suppose that's a fair point. I'm easily swayed, get him in.

Not sure I would. The kids got talent, but if we're building a proper team under Coops then I'm not sure we want someone who Tuchel criticized for having a bad attitude, and who broke lockdown to do some whoreing (and then upset the whore to the point where she called the fuzz).

Maybe he's learned and grown up a bit, but I value our team spirit, attitude and togetherness as something which we can't risk messing with. Coops will know best, but I'd be a bit weary.

I've been trying to work out Chelsea's strategy.

Then I remembered that that new FFP rule comes into play next summer which means you can only spend upto 90% then 80% then 70% of your turnover on transfers and player wages.

They're getting their spend in now before those restrictions come into place. That got me thinking and wondering, what strategy are Forest going for with this? I'm wondering if we'll also see some big spending beforehand as this restriction looms?

If we stay in the Prem were gravy. £300m+ revenue for 2 years in the PL.

Perhaps some good old fashioned money laundering by the Chelsea lot.

Once upon a time, we used to buy and loan players like Nuno De Costa and Diakhaby in the Jan window.

If someone had told you in less than 3 years Forest will have the golden ball winner of the Brazilian league on a free, another highly rated up and coming Brazilian for 20m and be looking to buy players with champions league experience you would be booking a taxi for the local lunatic asylum.

Listening to the Price of Football podcast sheds some very interesting light on Chelsea and they way FFP works for the uber rich cubs - FFP in essence is quite simple its money in versus money out. In Chelsea's case in particular they have been very good at selling players over the past decade, making a profit of some £650 million while Man Utd over the same period have made a selling profit of around £130m, so that's a clear half a billion of income more than their rivals, then you look at the purchase of the likes of Mudryk, they are expensive but on very long contracts which means they can amortise the value over a longer period, so less going out (in terms of "lost value") of the clubs accounts each year than if it was a three year deal. Last year they sold Abraham and Tamori, both academy players so the money "in" was effectively clear profit and that was for around £70 million... selling a player is instant profit and instantly offsets FFP, buying a player is better in accounting terms if spread over a long period.

Doing deals over the longer period gives some relief in the short term, but if they turn out to be lemons and wallow Bogarde-like on very expensive wages then its a problem of course but more crucially if Chelsea do not make European football (or worse if they were relegated) they would/will be in the crapper......

Lazy left eye, never get past the world's most demanding eye test. Although it is useful to have a player who can keep both an eye on the cup and league at the same time.

And yet people are pissed off that we signed an England international on a free on a one year contract.

So, who's the next one in?

I don't think we've got any news of anything particularly reliable going on at the moment, have we?
