Willy-Arnaud Zobo Boly

On the Garibaldi Red podcast (and other various places) they rarely ever put him in the predicted lineups and constantly want Worrall in ahead of Boly which I just do not get at all as Boly should be in every starting XI if he's fit.

The best thing you can say about him is he rarely gets a mention because he just goes about his business at this level without fuss and bother. Top player and still underrated IMO.

The stats back it up, statistically he's been the 3rd best rated defender so far this season.
The consistency of his performances perhaps shouldn't come as a surprise, given his experience. It's something we could probably build on better if it wasn't for the niggling injuries he seems to suffer with.

Yep. He was part of one of the best defences in the league when he was at Wolves, he's just replicating what he did there.

God knows why they sold him so cheaply & to a rival as well.

Because they’re from the Black Country and thick as mince?

Their reasoning for preferring Worrall is his better passing out of defence. But I agree, I don't think that's enough to offset Boly's defensive superiority.

If Worrall could consistently replicate his better performances, instead of being so up and down, it would be a close run thing...and I'd probably go with the younger option in that case. But as yet, he hasn't.

Across the whole Premier League?
Yeah, small sample size obviously

He wanted to go and refused to play for them

It's all about mid-table...
Was really disappointed not to see McKenna and Worrall not start against Citeh. Not so much as Yates tho.
I think they both had a point to prove and would have done well.
Ahh well, we'll never know.

Tend to agree with the comments regarding his passing. With the ball at his feet Boly can look very cumbersome and telegraph exactly what he us doing. Against Sheff Utd for example every time Boly got the ball he either passed it straight the them or telegraphed the pass so much they easily intercepted. With what we have available though I don't think that is enough to leave him out though.

Boly also has the highest number of shots on target of all Forest players this season with 5 😮

Elanga second on 4 and Awoniyi on 3 (which means he's scored with every shot on target).

Do you think the others only hold opinions because they get them from Fletch?
To be fair the guy that works at the cricket club is mates with Worrall as well. Not that I am slagging off Worrall or them but it is relevant when they have a rant every single week about people saying anything remotely bad about Worrall. I reckon they will have a dedicated section soon just dedicated to moaning at people moaning at Worrall.

One less gobshite...
The latest edition, where the claim about Worrall's superior passing was made, featured neither Fletcher nor the cricket guy.

Is it? Or does it also have something to do with him being Darren Fletcher's mate?
Also Greig Mitchell even though he seems like a great bloke to go and have a pint with. He’s far far too bias and over positive. He’s the over correction of a doomonger. He will back any academy prospect.

I thought Arsher Ali provided a very balanced voice on the most recent episode. More like a typical fan.

Forest are magic on and off the pitch!

Boly's a weird one. You expect with a 6'5 monster an element of strength and aggressiveness but he doesn't really have loads of either and goes about his job in a more calm and considered way. He's definitely comfortable on the ball even if his long range passing isn't great.

My biggest gripe is his lack of aerial threat from attacking set pieces. He's only scored the one I think since being here.

Personally would be looking at longer term options next summer if we want to progress, with Worrall being the back-up to whoever that new player is.

Wonder if we already did that this summer, with Murillo and Omabamadele (spellcheck?!) coming in?

They're certainly signings made for potential (and also, I dare say, with half an eye on adding viable options that don't need to be included in the 25-man squad after the injuries hit the back 4 last year) - but their future will remain in their own hands and they'll need to show Cooper that they are doing the right things and growing into that potential.
I wonder if we'll see them in the next EFL Trophy game?

It's risky with CBs of course but it would be nice to see one of them get 5-10 minutes at the end of a PL game, assuming they're looking ready in training. Maybe one day we'll be 2 or 3 up and coasting with 5 to go :)

Not at all, but, he is the famous one!

I don't see how Worrall can be selected above Boly, the passing thing isn't a sufficiently large differentiator for me. Boly is a far better defender. Maybe Joe wins in being a better communicator too, he certainly energises the team in a similar way to Yates.
