Well played Ref

The Vicar

Geoff Thomas
I have not seen anyone make mention of the ref last night which is probably indicative of the fact that he did well.

I would go so far as to say he was one of the best I've seen for a long time.

Outstanding young man. Well played.:worthy:

Shame about the offside that wasn't (not the refs fault), and the freekick that was either a bit of a theatrical tumble by Lewis, or a penalty, for t'was in the box.

I also thought he could have clamped down a bit more in general - he should've booked that massive lad of theirs for that pathetic dive in the first half, for example.

But definitely a cut above the usual referees we get landed with. That's a fairly thin compliment.

It was a good night for ref's all round, the ref who decently did not book Sharp after scoring was none other than Darren Deadman, the ref in THAT match v Preston.

Aye, didn't really find myself blowing my top because of him. The linesman on the mainstand side however was a wee bit poor IMO.

Could've clamped down on their first-half timewasting, but overall he was okay.
That linesman in front of A Block by the way was a total arsehole of a 4th Official one match last season, very nearly got lamped by Ned, then Billy

I would like to see that free kick he gave us outside the area again, it looked like it might have been inside the box.

Other than that and the ruled out goal (where the ref depends on his linesman), no complaints.

Kept on missing Tudgay, in particular, being pushed in the back pretty much every time he jumped. Bar that, he didn't really have much to do.

The ref was not as bad as some but still made the usual poor decisions like not booking the player who blocked McGugan off on the edge of the box and even worse was not booking the guy who pulled Tudgay back by the NECK, a disgusting foul.

We also should have had a penalty when Gorks clearly had both of his arms wrapped around Wes at a corner. The ball went to them and the ref had a clear view of it. A definite foul and penalty... like we'll ever get one of those!

Ref shat himself when Lewis went down on the edge of the box, he didn't want to give a penalty if he didn't have to.

I thought the Lewis foul was inside the box in real time. I thought the ref was pretty lenient, which I quite like until the next ref books half our team for similar infractions.
