Watford Pub

This will be a new ground for me and having done a bit of research on footballgroundguide.com, The Bible aka The Good Beer Guide, and beerintheevening.com, Nothing really grabs me.

I wonder if any of you who have been there before have any recommendations?

I need to arrange a rendezvous with a mate from Hampshire and real ale is a must. We don't do the fizzy stuff!

I think we ended up in a spoons last season, which was possibly the only appealing thing in the whole of Watford.

Probably says more about Watford than the calibre of this particular Wetherspoons!

Yes.

Don't go! Watford's a hole. It's got a one-way system that rivals even Nottingham's, and fewer redeeming features than D***y.
I used to work in Borehamwood (WD6 postcode) - "Like Beirut but with a Tesco" was the most appropriate description I ever heard...

I found Greggs slightly more appealing than the spoons. I dont think i'll ever go to Watford again

I think I bought a computer game there, so that was another happy memory.

I can't remember what it was! It might've been Wii Sports Resort.

I bought some rather white looking chips for my lad off some guy just after half time and a nice suasage roll, as for pubs cant say I remember seeing any, will be going with wife and lad this time so no doubt it will be burger king or subway followed by game and long drive home (hope the golf makes it in one piece as the zt overheated in traffic last year)

Watford isn't the nicest place but it isn't that bad either, places like Bradford, Plymouth and Stoke make Watford look like Chicago in comparison.

I thought it was a pretty decent day out last season.

I think we ended up in the town centre Walkabout a couple of seasons ago. There were a few Forest fans in, but it won't provide you with the real ale experience you are looking for.

Last season was Boxing Day with a midday kick-off hardly a decent day out!

If you walk back into the town centre from the ground there are any number of pubs within 10 minutes walking distance

It certainly beat being bored at home on probably the dullest day of the year so I would class it as a decent day out for that reason alone!

also it was sold out last season so was a good turn out lol.

just got my tickets online wife aint coming now so just me and my lad, just hope ticket office has common sense to send out 2 tickets next to each other as one is a under 16, I have had them send me them in the past miles apart and had to apeal to the good nature of fans on the day to move steats to allow me to sit with my lad

Like Al says, The Wetherspoons is the usual haunt for the Forest massive, will let you know where the Tricky coach goes as we always find a pub thats sells none fizzy stuff and usually about 6-7 miles away.

I can't believe that Watford hasn't got a proper pub i.e. a real ale pub. That stinks. They'll have some ales on in 'spoons, but still...

It roughly goes as follows:

Below Islington: South
Watford - Northampton: Midlands
Loughborough - Nottingham: North
Mansfield - Sheffield: Far North
Middlesborough: Deepest Darkest North
Newcastle & Sunderland: Scotland.

Is the general consensus Wetherspoons then?! I bought a ticket on a whim before finding out my mate is working, so I'll be on me todd.
